I logged into my Aster Mail account, and tested this option. I tried a .net domain and it was offered to me at $19.94. The registrar being used is NameSilo, and a check on their website shows the price of the same domain name as $15.95.

Price increase for .gb.net domains:

Porkbun say that the registry behind the .gb.net domain will be increasing their regular wholesale price from 25 August 2026.

The new estimated renewal price with Porkbun will be $24.34 USD per year.

Currently, it's $6.95 USD per year.

Does anyone have suggestions for #domain #registrars #hosters that support .eu and .de domains, native / uncomplicated / support independent #dnssec setup and #webhosting for a modular setup? I'm really tired about #hetzner and #scaleway. hetzner implemented my ds records and after some days it got deleted again 😂 scaleways api is not what I wish for and the support asks me questions I already answered. please give me suggestions that support my autonomy and does make me shout fuck off 🙏🏻🙃

I am looking to migrate a bunch of domains. I am searching for a registrar with good reputation and ethics. Ideally one that is unlikely to be blackmailed by foreign governments to punish individuals with a if-you-want-to-continue-business-in-our-market... threat. I am EU/Germany based. I learned that gandi.net may no longer live up to its former reputation.

Just transferred 3 expiring-soon domains out of #Gandi to #Porkbun. Total cost for adding a year to all of them was $30 and change. Gandi wanted a few cents less than $40 to renew any one of those domains.

Why, yes, there *was* a private equity buyout and later resale of Gandi. How could you tell?

So far only @beasts checked the most boxes from my requirements. Being non EU and a bit on the pricey side is the only thing that holds me back right now.

Most astonishing is the fact that most other #registrars are lacking #IPv6 support and still missing the possibility to create #https RRs.

I was happy with gandi.net as domain provider for a long time, they weren't the cheapest but their "No BS" motto resonated and it was a European and privately owned company.

But since they got acquired by "Total Web Solutions" I feel this difference has gotten out of hands. The price difference is 5x for a .be domain vs OVH.

So I have been moving a few domains to OVH.

So far the experience has been decent, but every time I interact with any domain-registrar things I get a little bit more worried.

It's a mess of retried transfers, misssing auth codes (I've given them twice), links that go to 404, "invalid" WHOIS data etc...

Anyone here who has been one the "inside" and have any idea why? My gut feeling is that it's related to the surge in TLD's.

Apparently at 1502 !? nowadays, each one with different requirements, and hosted by a multitude of registrars. Who probably change their API every other day.

Searching for the best/recommended #registrars on the web is a trap at best, most advice is basically a paid for block of text... #tragic.

I have used #namecheap in the past. I only left them because I found their layout and usage a bear... especially if you use an #adblocker... the site was riddled with issues [at the time].

Afterward... one last #google hurdle to overcome... my Pixel 😱

Are there any #DNS #registrars out there that just let you manage your CNAME records, and will process a renewal every few years?

None of these sites seem to actually be about DNS anymore. I don't want hosting, I don't want web page templates, I don't want an email service, or web forwarding, I don't want "Buy it or we'll hold your domain name hostage" insurance.

I just want to manage 5 or 6 domain names. Does ANYONE still provide this basic service? TIA for any guidance!
