    Quote of the day, 9 July: St. Edith Stein

    During Lent I was allowed a beautiful task: to prepare a Mass and Office for a Feast of Regina Pacis [the Queen of Peace]. Cologne wants to apply for a First Class Feast for the entire Church (July 9). I can send you a carbon copy of the Mass text. I have no more copies of the Office, unfortunately. Perhaps Cologne will be typing it again. Then you could get a carbon copy of it there. That would make me very happy.

    CW: Historic Brooklyn gangland murder

    #OTD in 1952, the body of gangland murder victim Ralph "Bucky" #Emmino turned up in #BathBeach, #Brooklyn. Police later learned that the killing was related to the recent theft of jeweled crowns from Brooklyn's #ReginaPacis Shrine Church. Leaders in the #Profaci Crime Family soon had the crowns returned to the church, in what was called, The Miracle of Brooklyn. #MafiaHistory #NYC #Histodons
