The Fiat G.55S (silurante, meaning torpedo-carrier) was an experimental torpedo-fighter derivative of the Italian Fiat G.55 Centauro. To accommodate the torpedo, engineers significantly altered the aircraft’s underside configuration. The original ventral radiator was divided into two smaller radiators under the wing roots, creating space beneath the fuselage for torpedo attachment racks. https://www.destinationsjourney.com/historical-military-photographs/fiat-g-55s-torpedo-fighter/ #aviation #FiatG55S #FiatG55 #RegiaAeronautica #aeroplane #airplane #TorpedoFighter

Ha una linea pulita ed è costruito con tratto elegante: sembra quasi disegnato da Miyazaki. Ma... il resto della Storia nel link -

Maggiore Ferruccio Vosilla's FIAT CR.42 Falco (18o Gruppo) over the South Coast of England.
The Hurricane in the background (LK-T) belonged to De Spirlet, who funnily enough studied in Torino, where many of these CR42 were based before arriving to Ursel (Belgium) #RegiaAeronautica
