De trike reed via Cuijk (daar zag ik de fazanten op een muur van een flat) naar Haps dat ook ooit een station had want het lag aan het Duits Lijntje. Daar is niks meer van over behalve dan een seinpaal. Rondom Haps zie je nog wel de spoordijk liggen dat nu deels een wandelpad is #regel17

Nachtelijke rit met de Bulk. De IQ-XL lamp in de neus schakelt van dim- naar grootlicht. Bij droge weersomstandigheden heb ik hier ruim voldoende licht mee om met vertrouwen bijna even snel te fietsen als overdag. De legale fiets led lampen die niet verblinden hebben de laatste jaren een enorme ontwikkeling doorgemaakt. #regel17 #nachtfietsen

Es stürmt und pfeift, mein #ChillOut2026 hat begonnen, aber meine Radtour beginnt erst am Montag. Ich mache heute schon den Sprung nach Aachen mit der Bahn.

Gestern bin ich gegen 21 Uhr gestartet und noch fast 4 Stunden geradelt. Bei wenig Verkehr war es sehr angenehm.
Die Nacht war so kalt, dass ich gegen 3 Uhr zusätzlich warme Kleidung im #Schlafsack anziehen musste.
Werde jetzt ohne Frühstück einen Schnellstart absolvieren um die #rhon zu erklimmen. Aber erst erwartet mich die Abfahrt von den #Hassberge

Sunday's ride with @twilwel was just over 120 km, the first 70 km were in an easterly direction against a raging force 4 headwind. We visited the ancient star shaped fort of Bourtange where we had coffee before riding back. On the return journey the wind actually did help us.
Occasionally the wind was strong enough that we could even sail, as you can see in Harry's video:

Photo from today's delivery run. The parcels in the trailer are all full of bike parts and as always they begin their journeys to customers by bike. Even on a horrible rainy day like today.
Still, I shouldn't complain about the weather. At least it's warm today (about 10 C !) which is a big contrast from three days ago when there was still snow everywhere.

Today's bike ride with @TheoZw and @twilwel took us to Bourtange, an old fortress on the Dutch/German border. We've meant to go there for a few weeks, but each time something would come up which prevented us. It began to feel like a curse.

Our destination was Bourtange, a star shaped village / fortification on the border with Germany. Clearly this worked because the border juts out to the east at this point.

The destination today was the ancient fort of Bourtange. This was obviously very successful in the past because there's actually a bulge in the border into what would otherwise be Germany.
Anyway, with this being a sunday in the middle of summer it was actually closed to through traffic. They were firing cannons and doing other historical re-enactment type stuff so we didn't go in. For a little while we also became an attraction at the entrance but then we turned around. Some of the photos here are from previous visits.
