    As though the British military occupation of Diego Garcia in the Chagos Islands wasn't shameful enough, since 2021 dozens of Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka who arrived by boat have been detained in a tiny enclosure in tents - and the UK govt says international conventions on asylum don't apply there.
