@namark If you are comfortable running such a distro, then that is your choice. And choices is what makes #Linux as an OS amazing. I can't guarantee the safety of the code for #deepin or #redstar and can't ensure that an update won't temporarily alter the code to perform nefarious acts or surveillance. If you can ensure this, good for you. I would much rather run a distro that comes from a more reputable source, especially given the fact that I have a CHOICE to do so.

@namark I haven't avoided your question. I wouldn't run #deepin or #redstar despite which license they are under. The GPL3 doesn't mean you can't write malware or software which has reporting capabilities, telemetry, other nefarious actions. It simply insures that the source code is open and can be modified as needed and distributed freely. In fact, the #Kali distro is full of such software, although it is intended for penetration testing and not as a daily driver distro.

@namark FOSS is a concept and a philosophy that overlaps and sometimes conflicts with political ideologies. I find it difficult to put full faith in a daily driver distro such as #deepin (China) and #redstar (North Korea) especially knowing the environment in which they were founded in where the respective government has their hands in practically everything.
