#BikeNite A2a: In #WaterlooRegion we have #RecycleCycles *and* #RedRaccoonBikeRescue. Both recycle hardware and teach DIY, but neither has the facilities to build a frame. I took a welding class when I was still in school, and I've always wanted to build a tall bike, or a long bike, or a rail-trike or rail-quad. Still on the Bucket List.

#BikeNite A2: "Depth" of cycling culture is a relative thing. I'm probably deeper than 90% of the cyclists in #WaterlooRegion: I commute regularly, go on group rides, belong to @CycleWR, fix my own bike (mostly), and have volunteered at #RedRaccoonBikeRescue

Edit: Oh, and I do #BikeNite!

But I don't race or belong to a racing club, haven't bikepacked or done overnight trips, don't wear lycra, have only one bike, and haven't written a @CyclingGuide app.

#BikeNite A4: Definitely check out community bike shops that are run as non-profits. They often provide free repairs, and low-cost bikes (and sometimes free bikes for kids).

We have #RecycleCycles and #RedRaccoonBikeRescue in #WaterlooRegion. They have Do-It-Yourself repair shops, with lots of technical expertise to help out if you get in over your head.

#BikeNite A6: In #WaterlooRegion we have both #RecycleCycles and #RedRaccoonBikeRescue.

Red Raccoon does free bike repair on Saturdays at Willow River Park (fka Victoria Park) at the Joseph Street entrance. Lots of learning takes place, both repair and how to cycle. https://www.redraccoon.org/

Recycle Cycles sells bikes (cheap), and does bike repair (cheap, or free DIY). Volunteers are matched up with experienced professional bike techs. https://www.theworkingcentre.org/recycle-cycles/153

But I also had fun on a warm, sunny group ride with @CycleWR last week. And I had fun doing some bike repair at #RedRaccoonBikeRescue a few weeks ago. So there's also the fellow-biker camraderie.

And I have fun sitting in the driveway with tools scattered all around as I do some of my own bike repair.

I guess I have fun with everything I do with bikes!

#BikeNite A1: Checking in from #WaterlooRegion, Ontario, Canada. Just got home from a nice ride into and back from the City. Spent some time in the park, at the public square, and helped out at #RedRaccoonBikeRescue teaching two young lads how to put a tire on a wheel. Near-perfect day (got a little sunburnt) -- I wouldn't want to be anywhere else today.

#BikeNite A2: A little win: I met someone from Red Raccoon Bike Rescue this week, so they'll be coming to our Community Radio station for an interview in the spring, right before biking season starts again.

Now to get someone from @cyclewr. I wonder if I know anyone...
