New red panda for Potawatomi zoo. Sadly the only survivor of a litter of five. Five is a crazy number for a red panda litter. Everything I've read about them says they have 1-4 cubs, with 2 being the commonest number.
The zoo staff did their best, but most of the cubs were too small and didn't make it. But the surviving one, nicknamed Big Red, is doing well and they are cautiously optimistic about his chances.
