Truly shocked by the outcome of the #REDIII trilogue on forest #biomass, and in particular by the power of national governments to bulldoze the European Parliament and the Commission when they want to . Policy convenience trumping coherence, science and common sense. Stay tuned.

#Holz emittiert wesentlich mehr #CO2 als #Kohle, #Gas und #Öl.

Wälder werden kaum noch nachhaltig genug bewirtschaftet: In Deutschland landen 50% der Ernte im Ofen.

Die EU nimmt jetzt die Einstufung von #Holz als #klimaneutral noch nicht zurück, doch die Verwendung von Primärholz (also der Holzernte incl. Stämmen) wird schrittweise eingeschränkt.

Über die EU-Richtlinie #REDIII zu #Erneuerbaren Energien wird gerade im #Trilog abschließend verhandelt:

Es geht hier auch darum, ob #Wald weiterhin im Ofen landen darf, also ob #Holz als #Biomasse als #klimaneutral gelten darf - und ob es für das Ende dieser Einstufung einen Stichtag geben wird.

Wer heute Holz für die #Heizung empfiehlt, hat was verpasst: Die Holzpreise sind vier- bis fünfmal so hoch wie noch vor einem Jahr. Vielerorts wird schon Holz gestohlen.

#Waldbewirtschaftung ist längst nicht mehr nachhaltig, wenn die Hälfte der Holzernte in D im Ofen landet. Daher zählen #CO2-Emissionen von #Holz längst anders
