Caught myself reflecting on Red Dawn today and wondered to myself if Putin perhaps saw it and thought instead of parachuting troops into the American heartland, that it would be much easier and cheaper to parachute a useful, compromised idiot into the White House. Also instead of fighting them, it would be comparatively easy to get the “heartland” to support said useful idiot. Hmm…

Just read something horrible that I cant shake.
Not going to share it as I am not confident it's true...All I will say is that Congressional Democrats HAVE to find a way to get into the immigration holding camps being run by the DHS and check on the people being held there.

The overall plot is not at all believable, but whoever choreographed & directed the low-tech guerilla fighting did a great job. I guess there were plenty of people around in the 80s with that sort of experience. #RedDawn

This movie ended up surprising me how well it was. Well worth the watch.
I do miss 80's cinema.

#Iwatched #RedDawn (1984) — mainly because I'm a huge #DirtyDancing fan and this has #PatrickSwayze and #JenniferGrey in it. Her role is mostly negligible and while his is not... Well it's a paranoid mid 1980s military propaganda film that made a lot of US Americans think they should buy a gun. It's heroic, pathetic, cheap and too long. On the other hand Ukrainian soldiers understandably identify now with its story of a youthful guerrilla that fights for their homeland against Russian invaders.

It's a gorgeous day here, so I decided to take what I expected to be a long work call from a nearby park. Afterwards, on the way back to my office, I stopped at a local shop and sheepishly picked up a five dollar used DVD copy of the 1984 cheeseball classic "Red Dawn" starring Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, Charlie Sheen, and Harry Dean Stanton (whose shining moment comes in one of my favorite scenes in all of movie history... Shout it with me now: "BOYS!!!! AVENGE ME!!!! AAAAAHVENNNNGE MEEEEE!!!!")
Anyway, when checking out, the clerk asked if I wanted a bag and I instinctively said no. Back on the street, I quickly realized that I was about to become a grown-ass man seen walking the streets of a busy college town... carrying a plainly visible DVD copy of "Red Dawn" in calendar year 2023.
And do you think I minded? Do you think it made me feel weird or embarrassed? No. No it did not. That shit put a dip in my hip and a glide in my stride.
