Just a day to go before Red Cuthbert Day of Dance, part of the Bedford Fringe Festival - five morris sides will be starting at the Faces on Silver Street at 1030, with various spots throughout the town until we finish at Riverside Square, 1530-1600. We’ll all be doing turns in the Quarry Theatre Garden between 1200 and 1330, and after the last dance spot there will be a music session in The Hidden Barrel.
If you’re local, do come and see us & our fellow dancers!
Red Cuthbert will be joined by Golden Hare, Letchworth Morris, Queen’s Oak and Wicket Brood.

A good time dancing yesterday, including busking our way through Bluebells for a massed dance - none of us having done it outside an Ale in about eight years - and my finally almost getting Bonny Green (no one actually really knows it, do they?), good crowd reactions, and a nice social afternoon afterwards.

We had a great day dancing in Lincoln yesterday, and discovered this sign advertising a new unit of measurement. The Cuthberts Yard is defined as “the length of one of our long sticks” (762mm IIRC). Presumably there’s also a Cuthberts Foot defined as “the length of one of our short sticks”.

Yesterday we danced for the Bedford Bamberg Association at a private function and performed one of our dances with an all male set and music, which we think is the first ever appearance of the Red Cuthbert Morris Men - though they’ve not often been announced/advertised by the people we are dancing for! We didn’t get any photos of that though, so you can’t prove it happened…
