Getting close to new years means mochi deliveries to friends.

Ever heard of #redbean ?
It's an unbelievably clever webserver inside an executable #zip file. You simply stuff your #html + #lua scripts inside and you have an executable container for your app. It even embeds #sqlite

And the best part is, it is using the αcτµαlly pδrταblε εxεcµταblε (APE) format which runs on pretty much any x86-64 machine ... no matter the OS (windows, linux, mac, bsd)

seemingly out of nowhere I've somehow found myself delving deeper into technologies that could be classified as "permacomputing"-friendly or adjacent. I've recently been doing a lot of reading and exploration on things like around redbean, lua, tcl/tk, c, portability, longevity, and "old" tech and can't help but get excited or overly curious about them.

I'm in love with #Redbean (https://redbean.dev/):

- It's a ZIP file
- That is also a binary
- That runs unmodified (!) on Windows, Mac, Linux, *BSD
- It runs a webserver able to handle 1M+ queries per second
- To add new pages, just add them to the ZIP file
- You can add Lua scripts to the ZIP file and they are run dynamically by the webserver

From now on, all my apps will be portable web apps written for and distributed with Redbean.
