Staying in the red zone again, and trying a #sullivans Maltings Irish Ale
New to me, malty and slightly sweet, biscuit notes and a caramel closer. Light and refreshing.

Bottled the red ale tonight. 75 twelve ounce bottles, 3 pints, and half of a coffee mug.
I had repaired my bottle capper that has a sheared gear, put another handle 180 degrees so the sheared gear isn't on the capping stroke, works much better. No mods to the capper itself, 100% removable. It's about 100 years old.
I primed each bottle with 2.1 grams of dry table sugar.

7 days later, aka today... Wednesday, the Red ale is at 1.014, it's still bubbling very slowly and 1.012 would hit the estimated numbers so I'll check it over the next couple of days to see if it's moving.

A California Smithwick's. Nice red/amber color, faint malty nose, a beautiful dense cream-colored head, caramel malty taste (but not sweet) with just a hint of hop bitterness and modest carbonation, clean finish. Low alcohol. In other words, Smithwick's. $17/16oz-4-pack, but a minority-owned brewery and Made In America! 🇺🇲

Fermented Friday: 2025 Winking Lizard Beer Tour 12 – Thirsty Dog Irish Setter Red Ale Pint Glass (174)
In honor of Lance, the first dog I ever knew, an Irish setter who always seemed to tower over 3 year old me.

Seeing red after another day packed with back to back to back context changes.
Find some focus in the Crimson Keep, Here Be Dragons!
#dragonsMilk has malty cherry flavors, caramel background and a tart finish. Barrel-aged too!

This one has a best buy date that is 4 months from now. It was brewed about 2 months ago. This doesn't make sense.

Happy Mother’s Day! After taking my partner of 34 years to Costco (I’m a romantic) we’re kicking back with some good wine for her and a #DragonsMilk Crimson Keep for me!
Barrel-aged Red Ale, Malty sweetness, cherry and caramel notes. Another brilliant dragon from #NewHollandBrewing

@enog I saw the label and immediately thought of you. 🙂 The brewer managed to work in a shark and red liquid, withing killing anything.
My son likes it a lot; I still haven't decided. It's more amber than red. Intense hops and intense malt, well balanced, although more bitter than I"d really want in an amber; I'm not sure I'd describe an ale that's this bitter as “crushable.” There's a lot of sweet pine/herbal/medicinal flavor at the front. Still a good one to try for folks who like that dual intensity of hops and malt.
