As the butterfly season progresses, individuals increasingly show signs of damage to their wings.

This Red Admiral was enjoying the Buddleja in my garden. It still flew well, despite its left hind wing missing much of its orange band.

I've seen far worse. Last year, for example, a Speckled Wood had lost an entire hind wing, and half the other. It could barely fly, and then only in brief spiral hops from the ground, onto a flower.

The Brimstone vaguely resembles the leaf it sits on. I saw it land, then lost sight of it for a while. The others were more conspicuous.

I've been a bit quiet again, but back to share some art I completed 2025 for my patron's print rewards. This one is based on the Red Admiral butterfly - I want to make more butterfly characters when I have time :)

I'll add the leftover prints to my shop as soon as that's up and running again - they have a nice pearlecent sheen.
