  1. I had a heart 🫀surgery 2.5 weeks ago. Today I ran 🏃 for the first time since then, nothing long or fast (6.37 miles, pace 8:36 per mile ⏱️), but I did it! 🦵🥳 I can run again 🔥

  2. Today's food mutual aid request has been fulfilled (yay!)

Now let's see how much of Atha's debts run up trying to survive we can pay off...

The total debts are in the region of $50-60k if you include student loans.
But the immediate needs (to avoid car repo and excessive credit card and overdraft fees) are more like $2000.

What can we do to put a dent in that today?

  3. Slowly learning to adapt

...even though it's painful and challenging me a lot... I have shared many blog posts about my emotions, especially during the last 3 months. I guess it's only natural, as I have been dealing with the worst pain and trauma, both mentally as physially. It's really done a number on me, as I've heard people call it, and it set me back quite a bit. I need to learn to deal with these feelings. I need to adapt to the new situation that is my life, for the time being at least. All those years where I was used to certain routines, the loving support of my gall, caring for her and always putting her first. It feels like, in a way, I am really not used to being able to "put me first". Of course I got some of that back when I got divorced. I got a lot of it back, actually. But still, when I had to learn to live on my own, for the very first time, I was lonely and afraid. And there she was, my soulmate, caring for me and giving me a reason to rebuild my life. And, as I adapted, my world was spinning around Arwen for 24/7. Sure, I managed to do things that I wanted to do. But my routine was mostly built around her wants and needs. She saved me, and now I had to do everything to give her the best life I could offer. She really deserved it... […]

  4. “Self-acceptance permits balance in our recovery. We no longer have to look for the approval of others because we are satisfied with being ourselves. We are free to gratefully emphasize our assets, to humbly move away from our defects, and to become the best recovering addicts we can be. Accepting ourselves as we are means that we are all right, that we are not perfect, but we can improve.”

  6. There was a point where I could barely walk.

Where a combination of severe #injuries from an accident, and previous #health conditions, as well as #recovering from #addiction all at once made going a few blocks difficult.

Now I walk faster than anyone I know. I can walk further than anyone I know. I am more #fit than when I was a teenager at 31, and do things easily that most struggle to.

It feels incredible to not be imprisoned by my own body anymore.

  9. Rode to work and back for the first time in … <checks Strava> _18 months_ ‽ I’m surprised my body remembered what to do!

I am now comfortably ensconced in a layer of Deep Heat. Norman the cat seems strangely interested.

  10. Leaving the #gym after second #Zumba class since injury 2 months ago (#PatellarTendonitis in both knees). Last week was my first time back to Zumba.

Today, I followed up with some #weightlifting for legs. Took it easy and did less weight than I could handle. Will "step it up" (HA!) next week! 😊💃🎶🏋️

  11. Another beautiful day, another #gardening report: transplanted 4 types of lettuces, sowed seeds for onions, chicory, regular and sylvetta arugula. Partially filled 4 grow bags in prep for potatoes. Didn't ride today - still not recovered enough to yoga and ride every day, but will ride tomorrow. #gyo #GrowFoodFromSeeds #recovering

  12. After the night from hell with an #IBS attack - who knew that a healthier high-fibre diet would have that effect - George is making sure I don't get up and rest. Thank God he didn't do that last night.
