JD McPherson, The Warm Covers LP, 2023 on New West Records
McPherson toured with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on the Raise the Roof tour (we saw them in Boston). Great roots rock / Americana from New West Records. As the name suggests this is a covers album, the material on which was originally released on two EPs: one in 2014 (The Warm Covers EP) on CD and digital, and one in 2022 (The Warm Covers EP Vol 2) which was digital only. The track selection shows you some of the variety of influences on McPherson, from the Velvet Underground and Iggy […]https://goatless.org/2026/08/12/jd-mcpherson-the-warm-covers-lp-2023-on-new-west-records

INXS, Shabooh Shoobah Rarities, 2023 on Petrol / ATCO / Atlantic
Shabooh Shoobah was the third full-length from INXS, and I believe the first with real international distribution (WEA). The big single was "Don't Change" which was a top 20 hit in the US. This rarities release includes 4 songs live from the US Festival and a couple of extended mixes. Fan reception was mixed as they had already (2022) put out a Live at the US Festival 1983 which made these tracks duplicates, and left off other potential rarities - but I got a good deal on it and like the […]https://goatless.org/2026/06/30/inxs-shabooh-shoobah-rarities-2023-on-petrol-atco-atlantic

This is a thing of beauty! While not normally a fan of picture discs, this one is special to me. The band doesn't have that many studio albums and this comes with lot of good memories.

The record was made to resemble the 1978 Kiss "solo" records - including a nice poster in the same style! I would say this is even better than the 1978 solo records.
If you like Kiss, you will like it (stream link in the comments below). RIP Eric Carr! Missed but never forgotten!

Time for some "Van Hagar". Mastered from the original master tapes by the great Bernie Grundman.
Sounds better than the CD copy I have and includes three bonus tracks: "The Dream is Over", "Eagles Fly" (a Sammy Hagar song) and "Mine All Mine".

Wow! What a nice surprise. I was not expecting this band to be so good! This is a Latin-funk / Rock fusion band from Texas and this album is a Black Sabbath covers album.
Amazing renditions of Black Sabbath classics. Highly recommended.
