Lambchop - Weakened
An American band from Nashville, Tennessee.
Whatever the style, the characteristic mood of Lambchop's music is evoked by Wagner's distinctive songwriting: lyrically subtle and ambiguous, the vocals melodic but understated. [Wikipedia]

#RecentMusic [MUNA - Big Stick
Make you want to build an army and wage a war
Make you want to show the world what America's for
And how America gives more than America takes
We give weapons to dictators in apartheid states
We give kids in Palestine PTSD
But we'll never fuckin' ever give them something to eat
And if you've got a problem with it, you could end up in jail
Send you to Louisiana, million dollar bailBecause I have a big stick I'm not afraid to use

You're nothing but a gun for hire, hiding behind a mask
You didn't care if she was somebody's mother
When you shot her in the face through the window glass
A VA nurse on a city street, full of the courage you lack
An angel of mercy, helping a stranger and you fired ten bullets into his backMary Gauthier - Soldier of Fortune

Galactic & Irma Thomas - Lady Liberty
The adjective “infectious” is an overused cliché for describing the music on their new album, but it applies here.
Even when lyrics get weighty as in “Lady Liberty” where Thomas sings “Is this the world that we’re living in?/The one we raise our children in/Lord save us all, Lady Liberty took a fall,” the fizzy funk keeps the mood upbeat, vibrant and even cheerful. [Hal Horowitz] -
Laufey - Silver Lining
A beautifully melancholic ballad that captures the essence of wistful romance, self-destructive habits, and the idea of finding solace in shared darkness.
The song opens with a hypnotic, almost dreamlike atmosphere, with Laufey’s signature jazz-infused vocals floating over delicate guitar plucks. [StayFreeRadio] -
Chip Taylor - Not Doing Nearly Enough
Typical Taylor philosophy is found in this sombre and whispery ode. [RockingMagpie]
-
Christina Pluhar & L'Arpeggiata - Terra Mater
The experimental early music ensemble L’Arpeggiata will mark its silver anniversary (and its founder Christina Pluhar’s sixtieth birthday) this weekend with a double concert in Paris, but the celebrations kicked off with a typically variegated paean to Mother Earth which takes in English folksongs and dances, Baroque sonatas, early Italian opera, and even a smattering of jazz. [Katherine Cooper]

Songhoy Blues - Issa
Off their new album: Héritage
The closer, “Issa,” driven by sterling guitar picking and chanting vocals, means river. The song is a plea to end pollution. [Jim Hynes]

Chip Taylor - The Truth and Other Things
In Chip's own words:
"Hi again friends .. hope all is well with you .. and if not .. hope they get ok/good soon!
That is the general message of my new single “The Truth And Other Things” (you can hear it now on Spotify, etc.)
I wrote the chorus of this very quickly .. and it made my wife smile. With that sort of healing sentiment, the simple verse came the next day. Hope you like it." -
Father John Misty - Josh Tillman and the Accidental Dose
