Hey y’all. Question for all the sound designer folks out there… what tips, tricks, workflows, or plug-ins have made your life easier?

I’m getting back into sound design with a song I’m working on and honestly, I forgot how much fun this stuff is. Been experimenting with movement, space, textures, transitions, automation, all of it.

I’ve heard of plug-ins that can make sounds feel super immersive and almost “3D” around your head. I know Logic Pro has built-in spatial audio tools and binaural stuff. Curious what y’all are using these days, especially for:

So while one MSQ-100 was actively driving the Juno to play or accompany a song, the other would be loading the next song from the backup tape. 🤞 all went well then by the end of the song, MSQ's would be quickly swapped and so on. How the times have changed 😂 #ableton #bitwig #reaperdaw

The only other users are my kids, so whatever goes wrong is generally my own fault.

This is all particularly helpful as I often switch between a Mac and several Linux machines, so it's a consistent way to share things.

I have the weirdest situation. I use an UMC1820 with a Focusrite Octopre MKII Dynamic.
Both worked together under Linux, until they didn't: The Locked light wasn't shining anymore and no signal came from the pre.
I connected the interface to a Win PC, also, no Locked LED and no sound from the pre.
But: When I set the Focusrite to Internal clock and the UMC to OpticalIn so that the pre gives the clock to the UMC, then the devices are locked and I get sound from the pre to my DAW.

This sound comes from the early days.

More than 10 years ago I recorded some tracks (full of mistakes) for a demo postrock album. 'Citizen of Concrete' was one of the first takes.

I recently stumbled upon some video footage from that time... and I now finally figured out how to edit it more properly in Reaper DAW on Linux.
(Tried with Shotcut and OpenShot first but couldn't find my way in it.)
