We didn't learn from influenza, SARS, norovirus, … the Penny Arcade Expo the year after I went invented the term "#PAX plague", because *everyone* became ill. The first superspreader event in my memory.

Ich bin weder Fatalist noch ein Don Quijote, und auch kein #Klimaforscher.

Allerdings glaube ich von mir, zu einem großen Teil #Realist zu sein, der die Augen vor dem, was passiert, bereits passiert ist und in #Zukunft passieren wird, nicht verschließt.

So resultiert das, was ich denke, alleine aus Schlussfolgerungen, Lebenserfahrung und ja, auch aus Vermutungen.

Ich bin so für mich zu dem Entschluss gekommen, dass ein Ende der Welt, wie wir sie kennen, mittlerweile unausweichlich ist.

Um dieses Ende zu verhindern, hätten ich und meine #Generation so konsequent um Veränderungen und Handlungen kämpfen müssen, wie es viele aus der heutigen Generation machen.

Es soll sicherlich keine Entschuldigung sein, aber vor 50 Jahren wusste ich leider noch nichts von dem menschengemachten #Klimawandel.

I wrote a new blog, in which I take a close look at the famous #activist slogan "Be #realist, demand the impossible!"

I argue that the slogan can only have meaning beyond established (i.e. #capitalist practices of meaning-making, and I consider two ways of making sense of such 'future-oriented' meaning: on the basis of #faith, and on the basis of #hope.

Indoctrinated from birth, I was a devout Believer, earnestly thinking I heard from God. Examining & rejecting those beliefs came at great cost. Eventually, I rebuilt my life - this time including #criticalthinkingskills & an understanding of how beliefs form & why #religions evolved. If you’re #deconstructing your religious beliefs: WAY TO GROW! It gets better

note that i said "leverage" and not "work within": we can and should thwart oppressive systems against themselves. but armchair philosophy and screaming "communism everywhere now!" ultimatums into the void, doesn't really help anyone today. so in a two-party system, i vote in every election for the lesser of two evils, and then aggressively push the winner further left. i'm a dreamer, but i'm also a #realist.
