    Let's have a brief review of the #US' 20th century #IncomeTaxRate:

"๐Ÿ‘‰From 1918 through 1981 (easy to remember ;)) the marginal rate in the #US varied between 70% and 94% percent.๐Ÿ‘ˆ

[#MarginalTaxRate: the percentage of your income you must pay to the #Treasury on the last dollar you earn in progressive tax systems.]

And then, #Reagonomics and #TEFRA happened, the Tax Equity and #Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982.

  2. โ€œ #Neoliberalism is not just economically #destructive; it is literally soul-destroying. I think it corrodes everything that it touches. Knowing you have enough is how we begin to build something better. It's how we get beyond neoliberalism and into a world that cares.โ€

  3. ยซ In 1985, the COTI stood at 30 โ€” the median male worker needed thirty weeks of income to afford a house, a car, health care, and education. By 2018, the COTI had increased to 53โ€”a full-time job was insufficient to afford these items, let alone the others that a family needs. A generation ago, the worker could be confident in his ability to provide his family not only with the basics of food, clothing, and shelter, but also with the middle-class essentials of a house, a car, health care, and education. Now he cannot. ยป

You bring up an interesting point. I have been discussing this issue for about a year now, first on the DeadBirdSite, then here.

In a nutshell: #AmericaFirst never was punished nor disbanded. They lost in the polls. People forgot. In 1971, Big Busines joined the bandwaggon with their strategy paper. #Reagonomics carried out the strategy agains the "left", i.e. students that increasingly voted Dem.
