  1. Justice, Faith, and Brotherhood: Reflections on Rawls, Christianity, Freemasonry, and Modern Politics

After writing my previous reflection on John Rawls and his idea of justice behind a “veil of ignorance,” I found myself continuing to sit with the question of fairness in society. Not just as a philosophical exercise, but as something deeply personal. Over time, that question does not stay in the classroom. It moves into how we see the world, how we interpret faith, how we understand brotherhood, and even how we engage with modern political movements. As a Christian, and someone who […]

  14. Been re-reading John #Rawls his A Theory of Justice and came across this:

"[Civil disobedience] tries to avoid the use of violence, especially against persons, not from the abhorrence of the use of force in principle, but because it is a final expression of one's case."

Gerechtigkeit kommt wieder in Mode, scheint mir. Ich habe noch Hoffnung für diese Welt.

  26. "Inalienable Rights: Part I The Basic Argument" - the #liberal theory that both Nozick and #Rawls missed

    ellerman.org/inalienable-right

"An inalienable right is a right that may not be ceded or transferred away even with the consent of the holders of the right. Any contract to alienate such a right would be an inherently invalid contract, and, vice-versa, a right such that any contract to alienate it was inherently invalid would thus be an inalienable right."
