Perhaps the suckiest thing about Mastodon web interface is these "rate limited" popups that not only stop you from editing messages while you wait, but don't even vanish after limitation is over. And which can't be dismissed.
Even stranger that during the past few hours I had only scrolled few minutes before starting to edit a post to fit 500 chars. Those popups were happening even though I shouldn't have been using bandwidth to begin with!

Anyone with insight into Mastodon code able to explain why my browser-based mastodon session is constantly doing requests, even after being #ratelimited, even though I am doing nothing at all?
I am getting over one request per second (resulting in a message popping up : Rate Limited: Please retry after xx:xx:00PM (i.e. the time interval starting at the next 5min).
Seems like I have only a short window to actually post something, before these garbage background requests eat up my allotted req/5min quota.

Yep. Best to screenshot the single view tweet, no replies shown because the CTO is a moron who ' thinks limiting ad views is good for business' then link to the tweet in the image for the images source reference, but host the image instead of driving traffic to that GFY site.
They changed their no login view tweet policy in June of 2023 to limit views to one tweet and zero replies unless you log in. #ratelimited #advertising

Rate-limited
Anybody else is getting the rate-limited messages, asking to retry after 1-7 minutes?
I'm being plagued by those messages, preventing me from posting.
According to official documentation, Mastodon allows 300 requests per 5 minutes. What counts as a request in Mastodon? I'm getting those messages even when I am not doing anything. No answer from staff. Is it throttling by another name?

I was #RateLimited again tonight. I wasn't doing anything extreme, only reading threads opened in a few different tabs.
Can someone remind me why this error comes up on Mastodon?

I tried to boost something and got this..?? Does anyone know what this is or how to stop it? Would it help to move to another server? This sounds like something that will severely limit how I can use Mastodon. It popped out the same way those notices saying they can't find the translation database pop out. #RateLimited #Mastodon

If you actually wanted to limit scraping, you’d limit requests to 600 per minute, or even per 10 minutes. Per day is absolute madness.
You can easily hit this limit in 20-30 minutes of casual feed browsing, and some people can hit it much faster. #RateLimited #Twitter
