When I talk to people about web quality, they always mention measures based on code #readability and #maintainability. Rarely or never do they mention #performance, #accessibility, or #userExperience.
Performance _is_ accessibility. I think there is so much opportunity for me and my colleagues to raise the bar at the #RaspberryPiFoundation to improve access to kids and educators around the world.

@peter I watched it in real time and that’s not what happened. I’m still furious that #RaspberryPiFoundation used their might to bully someone who asked carefully whether they really considered “Our cop will be watching you, so don’t do anything bad” a good way to introduce the new hire, especially in the culture they were in.
And then Raspi doubled down multiple times, suggested that the person asking started a hate campaign and never apologized.
The problem with Trump is not the red hat. -
OS Adventure - Target #OpenMind_OM1 with USB Speaker/Mic
- Ubuntu 24 - no audio devices recognized, Remote with TigerVNC or MacOS both fail
- Ubuntu 25 x86 - OM1 install fails
- Pi OS Trixie - audio, Google Cloud #ASR, Remote With TigerVNC all works
OM1 in #Docker over PiOS Trixie might work, but I hate configuring and maintaining Dockered systems. Going to leave OM1 to the “artificially intelligent” developers
#RaspberryPiFoundation still has my “best supported hardware” award.

@jonty: Badly handling the #shitstorm after bad PR is nothing new for the #RaspberryPiFoundation. 🙈 Remember that Microsoft VSCode APT repo they introduced (as well as removed) silently? Back then they already showed that they neither understand nor care about #privacy and fueled the shitstorm that way: https://twitter.com/EbenUpton/status/1357058711873871872. 🤦♂️
That case even made it into the editorial of the German Raspberry Pi Geek magazine: https://www.raspberry-pi-geek.de/ausgaben/rpg/2021/08/editorial-07-08-2021/ (Granted, I'm not completely innocent of the latter. 😇)

Greetings fellow #Americans ,
It has come to our attention that the @Raspberry_Pi Foundation has been causing distress on social media and glorifying the police surveillance state. After thorough investigation, we have determined that this #organization is a threat to #NationalSecurity and must be dealt with immediately.
We have gathered evidence that suggests the #RaspberryPi Foundation is using their tiny, affordable computers to spy on innocent citizens and collect #sensitive information. They have even been known to promote their products as tools for #surveillance, which is a clear violation of privacy rights.
In light of these findings, we have decided to launch a full-scale #investigation into the Raspberry Pi Foundation. We will be #monitoring their social media accounts, conducting surveillance on their operations, and interrogating anyone associated with the organization.
We are confident that our efforts will bring the Raspberry Pi Foundation to justice and restore peace and security to our nation.
Sincerely,
The FBI :FBIverified:
P.S. Can someone please bring me a Raspberry Pi so I can see what all the fuss is about? I’ve been hearing great things about them.

@FreePietje: Yes, but there's another fact which might explain that initial naming:
#Raspbian AFAIK never (not sure about the very beginning though) offered images, just recompiled packages.
To my knowledge "Raspbian" images always came from the #RaspberryPiFoundation.
Another detail: Peter Green aka plugwash only became DD after Raspbian has become a success.
Nevertheless, the reason for the existence of Raspbian is still there: Debian still has a performance penalty on #RaspberryPi 0 + 1.
-
@bbbhltz: According to a comment in that file it won't help. But it helps: It only installs that repo when upgrading from #raspberrypi-sys-mods below version 20210125.
But you should also remove /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/microsoft.gpg
And there's still a big difference to all #nonfree software they so far shipped with #RaspberryPiOS: They all came from the #RaspberryPiFoundation's #APT repository.
Adding a #3rdparty APT repo to which apt connects upon every "apt update" is a huge #privacy #FAIL.
