તમે ક્યારેય એવું પક્ષી જોયું છે કે જે મશીન ગનમાંથી જેમ ગોળીઓ છૂટે એવો અવાજ કાઢતું હોય??? એક એવું પક્ષી જે આજના સમયનો જીવતો ડાયનોસોર તરીકે ઓળખાય છે,મગરના બચ્ચાને એક ઝાટકે ગળી જાય છે. તો ચાલો જાણીએ, જીવતો ડાયનોસોર તરીકે ઓળખાતા તેમજ મશીન ગન જેવો ધડાધડ અવાજ કાઢતા પક્ષી - શુબિલ વિશે.

The beautifully ugly endangered Northern Bald Ibis (Geronticus eremita). This bird, K61, is one of the few birds nesting in Europe. We visited the nest site a couple of years ago and found only K61 at home. We are lucky to have them nesting here in Andalucia.

I have spotted a white raven by the Headquarters Creek in the Comox Valley yesterday. There have been a few sightings of white ravens on Vancouver Island in recent years, mostly in the Qualicum area but none in the Comox Valley to my knowledge.

We had an amazing encounter with a Bearded vulture (Lammergeier) yesterday in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Of course I had the small point & press camera rather than my usual birding lens and camera. The sky was awful for bird photography. But what mattered was the encounter. It's always so special when an unexpected wildlife encounter happens.

This summer and for the second year, I saw a couple of Northern Bobwhites (Colinus virginianus) and their offsprings in Courtenay, Vancouver Island. This is a rare sighting for this part of Canada and, to my knowledge, there are no documented records of previous sightings. This bird lives in Eastern US and south Ontario in Canada.

Cavorting … this juvenile Reddish Egret danced, leapt in the air, and dashed about, frequently with its wings raised. Rare in the state where we were vacationing, let alone where we live a couple of states to the north, this entertaining lifer is one the best birds I’ve had the joy of seeing.
