On 对立统一
Context是海南封关，墙内一片看好海南取代新加坡在国际的地位。这种现象其实不让人意外，毕竟教育如此，宣传如此。但让我联想起“对立”和“统一”的起因是，在知乎上某山东IP的人坚信新加坡总统和总理因为害怕而“语无伦次”了。在我的印象中，持有这种观点的人大多也是看不起南方省份尤其是广东、广西和海南的。他们认为这些省的人跟他们北方汉人相异，因此低人一等，原因可能是多种多样的，包括肤色、身高、语言等等。此为对立。
但面对新加坡这种“外人”的时候，海南这一南方省份的属性突然就不重要了，因为有了外敌。海南是在“我们”这边的，“我们”这边的自然是好的，必定会胜利的。此为统一。
一个更好的例子是香港与新加坡。当需要强调中国有多么好的时候，香港背靠大陆，未来远优于新加坡。当需要强调香港人有多么坏的时候，香港早已被香港人破坏成金融遗迹，而深圳上海早已可取而代之。海南、香港、台湾和新加坡皆如此。这些人的思维其实是consistent的，即“我”就是最好的，跟“我”靠得越近的人越好，但都没有“我”好。

On Epic's free games
每到Epic送游戏的时候，总有人嘲讽送的是4399（一般指体量不大的小游戏）。先不说是否体量小或是画面不够AAA的游戏就比AAA游戏差（答案显然为否，反例可以是Stardew Valley or any of your favourite indie games vs <input trash AAA game here>）。
先来说说在这优绩主义的社会里，阁下算哪根葱。阁下毕业于什么层级的院校？什么学历？在什么公司/单位/学校工作？什么职级？有什么代表作？专业技术在行内排行第几？就阁下这条件，还好意思挑Epic送的游戏？阁下要是黑悟空：神话或是原神的创作者要trash talk别人的游戏，那真是我有眼不识泰山，失敬失敬，您请上台/s。
然而另外一边厢Steam上厂商送一些bare positive的游戏，某些人倒是甘之如饴……
起码Epic送游戏是会给开发者钱的。

Man, I get so irritated by people saying a cat is a loaf when you can quite plainly see both forepaws! If you can see the forepaws, it's either a sphinx (the paws are stretched out) or a crouch (if the paws are planted). It's only a loaf if the forepaws are folded inwards so you can't see them.
A sphinx is an attentive pose. A crouch means the cat is irritated or waiting for something. Only a loaf is truly a loafing cat.

Another rant, but whichever idiot designed the SIM card slots on modern phones… I loathe you and your ‘work’. There’s no reason this shouldn’t be as easy to change as an SD card or USB device.

God, anyone else hate when shops just move everything around? Had that happen to my local supermarket a few weeks ago, and I still lose track of where everything is.
If they think it’s getting me to buy more/different products, they’re very wrong on that count. It’s just making it harder for me to find things to try…

I will never stop believing that "based off of" is just stupid. "Based on" makes sense: something depends on, or stems from, something else, like you're putting it ON a base. "Based off of" was invented by some kid in 1993 who just couldn't stand to wear his hat like his dad, or to use functional phrases. He probably grew up and convinced businessfolks to use "ask" as a noun.

Self-checkout is the beginning of the free labour plan of corporations to enslave their customers in a bid to maximise already maximised profits. It's also an insidious way to negate the idea that the customer is always right, as the customers need to be pulled out of the normal checkout to populate the dystopian forced labour terminals.

When you are at a busy pedestrian mall or grocery store, please be considerate of others.
Step out of the busy path to tie your shoe or rearrange something in a stroller. Please don't talk on the phone, obscure the store shelves, and block traffic. How can people be so oblivious to others? -

I had some difficulty with this at a recent quick trip to the mall. Some kids were pushing strollers on the wrong side. I thought maybe they were headed into a store or just didn't know better. Nope, their father was directing them to walk right into the flow of traffic. -
