Ich bin nicht meine Figuren. Meine Figuren sind auch nicht Einzelaspekte von mir. Sie können vollständig anders denken und handeln als ich es gutheiße. Auch meine Protagonist:innen handeln nicht unbedingt moralisch. Ich schreibe nicht, um ein Anliegen zu verbreiten. Wer in meinen Geschichten finden will, "was sich die Autorin dabei gedacht hat", muss schon zwischen den Zeilen lesen und in den Subtext gehen.

What if the Crone Phase that we've been told comes with Menopause is actually our default (if patriarchy had not filled our heads and socialization with nonsense)?
From the Girl Gang (or Pony Girl) phase in our childhoods all the way to Crone Phase, I think our inclination is toward being in community with other women/not-men.

Random thought while driving to pickup things… having seen quick videos of people torture testing vehicles and the inevitable commercials of vehicles “off-roading”… does anyone outside certain occupations intentionally off road anymore? I spent the weekend at a yoga retreat, enjoying some c yoga classes, nature, kirtan, and healthy vegetarian food.
I got home and there was about 1.5kg of water retention in the books. Wondering how much salt that healthy vegetarian food contained 🤔

what if you had a mastodon server thats admin page was protected by using an access control listso that user would not only need their user to have permissions, but also would need to have a user on that network? like zero-trust I guess? or of course, based on client IP, etc.

Mein Vorschlag für bessere Radwege: Im Amt für Verkehrsplanung muss die Verteilung von Rad- zu Autofahrenden genauso aussehen wie in der Bevölkerung. Wer über Infrastruktur entscheidet, sollte sie auch nutzen. Und nicht nur dort. Mehr skin in the game, bitte.

It's ace writing on open source stuff.. one nice attribute is none of us are in competition... so it's totally OK to write a post about KiCad or OpenSCAD or something on the FreeCAD blog. You wouldn't really get that in proprietary stuff.. #randomthought

In letzter Zeit lese ich oft, "wir" müssten das Ehrenamt stärken.
Ich glaube, es reicht, wenn wir aufhören, Egoismus und Rücksichtslosigkeit als Stärke oder "Durchsetzungsvermögen" zu verklären und Reichtum zu bewundern. Nicht zu teilen, wenn es einem gut geht, sich nicht an Gesetze zu halten, nur den eigenen Vorteil zu verfolgen, Schwache zu drangsalieren ... Das ist nicht stark. Das ist gemein.
Wir müssen es aber auch so nennen. Und entsprechend handeln. -

And why pay SO MUCH attention to this case when there are reports of missing persons -- male, female, white, non-white, children, adults & seniors -- filed daily across the country?

I hope she's ok but I didn't know anything about her or her daughter before this case was reported in the media & I don't see why it deserves any more attention than any other missing person's case.

It's October, which means I start to see events for Halloween events.
But these Halloween events are happening on the 25th of October, or the 1st or 2nd of November.
Halloween being the 31st of October, and the 1st of November being a holiday here, I am always mighty confused why would anyone want to move the event to any other night than the 31st of October.

Apparently my fingerprints change often. I have to re-add them to my phone regularly, because fingerprint scan stops working.

I saw a notification on my watch that read "(Gym owner's name) wants to talk with you" sent by @jan while I was teaching yoga today, and I freaked out "OH, NO, what did I do?! Is he going to kick me out?!".
Once I was finally able to open my phone and read the rest of the message "(Current yoga teacher's name) is stopping with the yoga" and huge sigh of relief 🤣

Apparently it is perfectly normal to record a video while driving, with phone placed low on the dash & looking down at it, complaining about drivers in a very passive aggressive manner ("Congratulations, finally today we're driving 85 in a zone 80!") then post it on Instagram as a story.
And when called out on how unsafe and irresponsible that is, replying with "🤣🤣" like it's funny endorsing unsafe driving...
(good riddance to that person)

This whole thread from @lori has made me think of the #GenerationalGap between people who were online in 2010 and those who began in 2016 or around...
I was taught to take most things in the internet with a healthy dose of salt, to be wary of anything that seemed too good to be truth, to be able to do basic research, etc.
Now we've got outrage culture as the main modus operandi, crypto and tech bros, and a chronic inability to go outside the same 4 or 5 websites...
I mean, the internet wasn't perfect by any means. However, it wasn't geared towards the lowest common denominator. The level of ‘Bad’ was more or less the same, but the default was better.

I'm a 73 yr old 3rd gen born #AAPI male #Boomer. My family in the US goes back to the 1880's.
Contrary to the stereotype of #Asian families, I grew up in a matriarchal family dominated by #StrongWomen.
My mother was a strong woman as is every other woman in my family of her generation and beyond.
I have NO PROBLEMS with strong women.
I've worked with strong & confident women & actually preferred them as bosses to men because I'm an alpha male who always has had problems w/other alpha men.
Insecure men & women are another matter.
I'm also an Independent voter who is a registered Democrat.
I never liked #Kamala, who has a long political history in SF & CA, but that's not because she's a strong woman.
IMO, there is NO choice for me but to vote for Kamala because that's the ONLY choice for those who want to protect #democracy from Donald J. #Drump & the #GOP.
Vote for Kamala in November!!! 🥳

#econodon #econtwitter As a #theorist I always thought that knowing the "story of a proof" is far more valuable than reading the final version of the proof. For teaching, it would be amazing to keep a note on the process that led to the proof in each econ paper to show how it was done, it would help students (and the whole community) a lot #randomthought #econtheory #teaching
