The New England highway has closed south of Uralla with 5cm on the ground.
Flood warnings for local and coastal rivers are in full swing.

We won't be receiving visitors today, or tomorrow.Everywhere you look there is moving water. The horses are reviewing their #SwimmingLessons and I am checking our stocks of floaties for those that can't.

a year ago Brisbane was subjected to a 5-day extreme #RainEvent. at one stage two trillion litres were held back at Wivenhoe Dam. but it had continued at the same rate for another 3 days, we would have been in serious trouble. the fuse-plugs in the auxiliary spillway may have triggered, sending huge pulses of water down the already flooded river. a sign next to the dam wall reassures us this is a 1:100,000 year chance. but they wrote this before the effects of #ClimateChange became apparent.
