#EucalyptusLeucoxylon, commonly known as #yellowgum, #bluegum or #whiteironbark, is a small to medium-sized tree that is endemic to south-eastern Australia.

It has smooth yellowish bark with some rough bark near the base, lance-shaped or curved leaves, flower buds in groups of three and cylindrical, barrel-shaped or shortened spherical fruit.

A widely cultivated species, it has white, red or pink flowers.

During our recent zoo visit we saw wild (well, um… resident!!) #RainbowLorikeets - aren’t they just gorgeous?

We were there before opening time as we did a ’glamping’ overnight stay and the zoo keepers feed them first thing in the morning, in their accustomed hang-out place.

So the timing was perfect for some colourful and playful snaps!

They were at ground level and close to the main path. They had no care in the world apart filling up their bellies and posing for shots!

There were at least a dozen taking turns at the feeder.

I popped down the road this afternoon on the report of a very out-of-area bird sighting. Turned out it wasn't what was reported, but rather a male Scarlet Honeyeater (a good bird to spot for sure anyway). There were also copious numbers of Rainbow Lorikeets too.
