Some of you might have noticed I haven't posted any running post lately. We had a few grim and horrible weeks, I did manage to run with him but really didn't feel like posting. As we sadly had to say goodbye to our wonderful Mr Patrick Long Legs aka Paddy the Irish mutt. His illness took a turn and we weighed up all the options and the best one was to send him over the rainbow bridge. While he was still in a happy place.

Run free my wonderful running partner, I'll miss you goofyness and cuddles.

Let's celebrate the life of Thistle, who crossed the bridge today. She was my wife's cat for nearly 20 years.

Here, she's enjoying a sunbeam on a lazy #Caturday afternoon. She loved the outdoors, even though we tried to keep her inside.

She also loved getting pets and often demanded them as part of her meal.

It's always hard to let go of such a companion.

My little cat Slimy passed last night. She found us about 16 years ago, crying from a car wheel well covered in engine oil. Little wildling knew right away she wanted this ‘indoor life’.

Spent most of COVID on my lap and the past ten years sleeping snuggled against me. Most polite girl, she would gently tap-tap me when she wanted something.

I’ll miss her more than words can tell. But I know she had a good one, a happy, warm life. #cats #rainbowbridge

Some sad news, friends. Dr. Renard, Renny to his friends, passed away peacefully in his sleep early this morning while cuddling with me in bed. He chose us as his family almost 16 years ago, and we estimate he was at least 2 years old when he found us, so he would have been about 18 or 19.

He was a remarkable person - he would greet my car in the driveway every day and personally escort me into the house. He would follow the kids and me to the bus stop. One Halloween, he even tailed us around the neighborhood!

He was kind and gentle to other cats and people, and a tremendous mouser. We would often find "offerings" lined along our pathway to the house. In his later years, he liked to sun himself on our deck, or find a favorite spot to curl up and nap inside.

He leaves behind his loving human family and his younger cat friend, Charlotte.
