Still early days, but looks like #TropicalStorm #Ragasa will go through rapid intensification this weekend, and become a significant #Typhoon by Monday, packing winds of 120kts/138mph/222kph, and gusts up to 145kts/167mph/269kph.

It may enter the South China Sea through Luzon Strait, bringing gale force winds to southern #Taiwan and northern #Luzon, #Philippines. It threatens landfall near #HongKong, #Macau, and #Guangdong, #China.

But it's still 4–5 days out, with lots of uncertainty.

There are now 3 named storms in the Western North Pacific:

• TS #Mitag will make landfall near #HongKong as a weak #TropicalStorm some 24 hours from now.
• TS #Neoguri will stay off any landmass in the next 5 days as it intensifies into #Typhoon strength.
• TS #Ragasa will intensify greatly as a Typhoon, with up to 115kts/132mph/213kph winds and 140kts/161mph/259kph gusts threatening northern #Luzon, #Philippines or southern #Taiwan early next week.
