Well, I have a plan going forward for my #Proxmox #Ceph storage servers.
Migrating all servers (with months apart) to 8-bay hot-swap cases with backplane, and adding my remaining 6 #SMR HDDs to them (2 for each of the three servers) for a low-performance #RadosGW/S3 glacier type storage (with SSD DB-pool, but that's not the point).
Reducing the footprint of bulk/backup storage on my expensive CMR-drives. -
Question for those of you who use object storage exposed by the Ceph Object Gateway (radosgw):
Do you use the radosgw feature that enables you to access the same data via both the Swift and S3 APIs?
A — No, we only use the S3 API
B — No, we only use the Swift API
C — No, we do use both APIs but never to access the same data (i.e. we have some Swift data and some separate S3 data)
D — Yes, we do use both APIs to access the same dataBoosts for reach appreciated!

My gut feel is I might also be caching error responses.
I'm not sure why #Ceph #RGW / #RadosGW is returning 418 errors - my gut feel is I'm hitting a rate limit though I haven't specified one (and I couldn't find a default documented). Also need to see if I can work out the exact scenario for these random 308 redirects.
