If you need a little microbiology in your fabrics you can find my radiolarians in the minouette Spoonflower shop in a few different colourways. I love their shapes!

Radiolarians (or radiolaria) are a type of tiny creature -amoeboid protozoa which produce mineral skeletons.

They occur as zooplankton throughout the oceans and their tiny skeletal remains can be used as diagnostic fossils to date submarine sediments.

Years ago, I was asked to make a print for a missing element in a gallery show of the Periodic Table Printmaking Project, which gathered prints by different artists for each element . This small linocut represents the chemical element Silicon, with its diamond cubic crystal structure shown in silver. Its symbol, atomic number and a couple of its forms are shown in lilac.
