Codman’s Album of stereoscopic and plain X-rays : radiographs, 1896. This album represents some of the earliest X-rays taken at Harvard Medical School, only a year after the first Radiograph was taken by Wilhelm […]

As the month comes to an end, I'm struggling more and more to keep writing at the same time as carrying all my daily life chores, so this is going to be the last installment of this series. If anything, this challenge has helped me get back on track with writing code in processing and I've explored some other languages in the process. 1/2

  6. Happy birthday to #physicist Wilhelm Röntgen (1845-1923) who discovered x-rays & earned the Nobel Prize for #physics in 1901. I've depicted him at work, studying this mysterious, newly discovered, invisible form of light, based on a photo of him, using a Crookes tube to produce x-rays. The form of the print mimics the nature of his discovery - much as x-rays reveal the skeleton within, …

  7. Listening to Callaway (author of one of our textbooks) giving a lecture on radiation physics for students. He makes this really simple and I can literally see their anxiety about the registry diminishing. Hundreds of students taking notes but laughing and having a good time reviewing a very difficult subject. #LasVegas #Radiography #Physics

  10. Hello #ScienceMastadon #AcademicMastadon Just wondering if there is anyone else out there who is involved in medical imaging research? I am currently a bioinformatician using RNA-seq data to investigate cellular ageing, but I'm also a qualified diagnostic radiographer and will soon be starting a postdoc in medical imaging. I am especially interested in utilising my quite diverse experience to bring together genetics and imaging to improve medical diagnostics. Would love to connect with anyone who is interested in this area of research or who works in medical imaging in general! 😀 #bioinformatics #genetics #rna #radiography #medicalimaging #medicine

  11. #introduction I qualified as a radiographer but currently a bioinformaticion working in human genetics (have also worked in microbial genomics). Soon to be starting a postdoc in medical imaging. I live in Devon with my two kids and my dog. Interested in politics and all things science!

This is not a beautiful woven tapestry. It is not a painting. It is the most detailed image of a human cell to date, obtained by radiography, nuclear magnetic resonance and cryoelectron microscopy.
