  1. TFW you can't find either of the things you know you have which would solve the problem more elegantly, so you have to kluge something by opening a virgin unopened bag of parts from #RadioShack.

...and then it turns out you didn't need them after all. I have needlessly defiled a sacred relic, and I hate it when that happens.

(Who among us has not experienced this tragic turn of events, I ask unto thee.)

So, anyway, the office's hifi amp (Yamaha CR-600), which weighs at least as much as your average laser-printer, is now in the equipment loft overhead -- so I can finally get this goldang full-height equipment rack outta here...

  2. Remember when the future was here, and it was at Radio Shack?

This robot could be programmed, and it used cassette tapes for memory. It is designed to hold and move drinks. Pretty wow for the 80s.

Personally, I was more interested in the fireman's hat with integrated flashing light and siren (ebay.com/itm/277870190036). Nope, never got one.

  3. On this day in history, August 3, 1977, RadioShack (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RadioSha) introduced the TRS-80, one of the world's first mass-marketed home computers that ignited the personal computer revolution. #history #radioshack #computers

  4. I saw this at an antique store the other day... a Radio Shack crystal radio kit, with what appears to be a drawing of The Jam on the box. (Definitely looks like Bruce Foxton on bass!) I think I might have had one of these sets, but I don't think mine came in this box!

  5. Working thru a backlog of projects. This old turntable needed a new belt which arrived and installed no issues. I’m getting no audio. The cartridge coils test open. Safe to assume the cartridge is toast? I think I paid $5 for this years ago at a garage sale and only because it’s Realistic gear which I am overly fond of. #realistic #vintageaudio #radioshack #ElectronicsRepair

  6. Are there any experts on the Tandy Radio Shack Model 100 who would like to connect?

  7. @spacebug

I USA slutade jag handla på #RadioShack ganska snart efter jag flyttade dit i slutet av 80-talet, för de frågade alltid om telefonnummer. Och det var innan vi hade SMS. "No, thank you."

Synd, för de hade bra grejer.

  8. PROTECTING THE RIGHT TO REPAIR

The first computer in my house was a Tandy 1000. It was made by RadioShack and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Sure, it was not much to look at with its light brown plastic case and monochrome screen. I am pretty sure my calculator from middle school has more processing power. The laptop I am typing on right now is basically a supercomputer when put up against that Tandy, but it […]

Heh, I remember Service Merchandise, although it wasn't my favorite.
I think my favorite was BEST, but earlier, Toys'R'Us, because they always had an epic computer section. ;)
Also, I seem to recall the Dillards in Austin had cool toys and robots and stuff.

Also, who could forget #RadioShack. 😥

  10. “The 80s Called” RadioShack’s 2014 Super Bowl spot “brought out icons like Hulk Hogan, ALF, and Chucky, storming a dusty old store to reclaim their era, all set to Loverboy’s “Working for the Weekend.”
