  1. Even though it is not so easy to learn, and nowadays I usually use #mpd / #mpc, I still love how I am able to #listen to my #music library with #quodlibet's search:
    &(#(rating>=0.8), #(59 < bpm < 111), #(1011 < year < 2027), genre=|(Acid Jazz, Alternative, Big Beat, Chill Out, Classical, Dance, Disco, Drum & Bass, Dub, Dubstep, Electronic, Funk, Handpan, Happy Hardcore, House, Jazz, New Age, Orchestral, Smooth Jazz, Soundtrack, Techno, Trance, World), !vocal)

  2. @TheZupZup hope this isn't too annoying of me to say, but I would love to see support for playing remotely from an instance of Quod Libet, including "saved searches" (aka smart playlists built with a query language) ... I have a ton of work sunk into metadata and QL saved searches which build shuffle mixes based on said metadata.

    I think #QuodLibet has a plugin for MPD support already, but I haven't yet gotten around to seeing how functional a setup I can cobble together to listen remotely from a main QL instance, either on or off my LAN.

    anyway, food for thought, I'm planning to test your app along with other selfhosted streaming options, just haven't gotten to it yet since I mostly use QL for music playback at the moment.

  3. I will be watching a very sassy Manx cat from tomorrow thru Monday, my hope was to have some tests worked out for using my #CouchLab compute stack while away, but didn't manage to get anything figured out. I would like to get SPICE remote desktop working but that's gonna be too complex for the time I have, so I'll just end up connecting to things via ssh and http[s] over Tailscale like usual.

    the one main problem I have with this is not having easy access to my music box, right now I do that over SPICE while at the house. but long term I need a way to stream and control #QuodLibet from my phone. I can't really use something else very well because I make extensive use of Quod Libet's query-based smart playlists.

  4. I finally published my first new #video in a series: Linux Audio Soliloquy: «My Linux Setup!» 🤓

    You can watch it now on #peertube at spectra.video/w/vsghNhVisgy9fb or #youtube at youtu.be/dYZHVKyIslw.

    Please let me know what you think about it. 😇

  5. One thing I often would like to be able to do quickly and easily is share a #quodlibet #playlist with friends.
    I know that there are websites out there that more or less convert an M3U file into a YouTube playlist, for example.
    However, it is always a bit of a hassle, and I'm not a big fan of YouTube either. 🫣
    Is there perhaps a better way to share music playlists with friends?

  6. 🆕 After another long wait, 4.7 is now released, for Linux and Windows [1] 🎉

    👏Thanks to the contributors, translators, and packagers who worked on a long list of fixes and features [2]

  7. Is there a way in #quodlibet to display artwork on a per-song basis in the list views like for instance in #mixxx? #linuxaudio

  8. I have this odd issue with my laptop where whenever I play music using "traditional" apps like #Lollypop, #Pragha, #StrawberryPlayer, #Rythmbox, #QuodLibet or #Exaile, it pauses at random times for a few seconds, like if the music is buffering or something.

    Interestingly, it doesn't happen with #mpd, #Monophony or through #Firefox. And it has happened with every distro I used with this laptop (#Fedora, #Debian, #EndeavourOS).

    I suspect is related to #pipewire-pulse, but I'm not sure.

  9. I am working on making 24 hour #playlist (s) in #quodlibet in preparation for setting up an #azuracast #radio station for our new business @loveyoumore. QuodLibet is such a power house! 😊

  10. experimenting with switching music players from #quodlibet to #lollypop

    so far lollypop negatives:

    - took 20 minutes to index my music collection, with no progress bar and no visible music until it was done indexing; was on the verge of declaring it unusably broken when I thought to run it with --debug from the terminal (which provided an ersatz progress bar)

    - no high-level list views as far as I can tell

    - no metadata editor as far as I can tell

    - inscrutable UI leading me to have to write "as far as I can tell" in the previous two bullet points

    - unreliable search (e.g. typing "Warren" brings up Warren Zevon but typing "Warren Zevon" brings up nothing)

    and positives:

    + starts instantly now that the indexing is done

    + has not yet played loud static at me instead of the music

  11. El otro día actualicé #Debian a la última versión estable: la número 12, conocida como Bookworm.

    Me encontré con un montón de cosas nuevas, por nombrar algunas bien "palpables":

    @libreoffice ahora trae un hermoso tema oscuro 😎 y en los backports está la última versión disponible;
    #XFCE reconoce perfectamente los accesos de teclado con la distribución #dvorak, además de incorporar varias características geniales al explorador de archivos;
    — gracias a la gente que mantiene los backports de @gajim podemos disfrutar de sus últimas versiones, con útiles accesos directos y una interfaz mucho más agradable, con controles súper versátiles para reproducir audios como lo más notorio;
    — se corrigió un error en #QuodLibet que permite explorar nuestra colección musical de una mejor manera.

    Y por mencionar una última: gracias al proyecto #KDE por su fantástica fuente tipográfica #Oxygen-Sans y sus punteros Breeze, dos elementos que me acompañan permanentemente.

  12. @ultimateriff Aha, via a #foobar2000 github plugin I found yet another API URL to scrobble to the #ListenBrainz server: api.listenbrainz.org/1/submit-

    This works nicely for #WebScrobbler, in combination with your personal token, although I'm shown as 'anonymous'. For #QuodLibet this doesn't work, however.

  13. @ultimateriff Nice. I created an account, imported from libre.fm, which worked nicely although missing a few thousand plays. Not sure what went wrong there.

    Can't get it to work in #WebScrobbler though, nor in #QuodLibet that I use as music player on my computer. The former has #ListenBrainz as possibility, but just opens my profile and that's it. The latter states that it authenticated my account succesfully, but nothing pops up on playing things.

    Will need to dive into this a bit more. 😅

  14. Would it be a huge undertaking to "port" @quodlibet to GTK4/libadwaita? Does anyone know what are the plans for the future of #quodlibet? #music #linux I like it a lot! 😊️
