Have you thought about viewing your #digital #3D #archaeology models in-situ in a trench at your site? Read our article on the use of #MixedReality and #AugmentedReality (#MR/#AR) in archaeological #fieldwork in the Journal of Computer Applications in Archaeology (#JCAA)! Our experiments utilized three devices: the Vuzix Blade 2 AR smart glasses, the Microsoft #HoloLens2, and the Meta #QuestPro MR headsets. These experiments aimed to enhance fieldwork efficiency and accuracy through hands-free data collection, stratigraphic comparisons using 3D models, depth-guidance systems for excavation, and virtual pottery reconstruction. Our findings highlight the significant potential of MR/AR technologies to transform archaeological practices. Our vision for the future demonstrates that these tools will, one day, provide archaeologists with enhanced vision and data interaction capabilities, ultimately advancing the field.

Last night for #Halloween I dressed up as a VR Scientist and used the #QuestPro’s color pass through mode to see. It worked ok for about 10 minutes but as the sunlight vanished, it became more difficult. I ended up removing it. Pictures though! Annie went as the Queen of Flowers.

Last week I participated in a Meta Presence Platform Hackathon @ Meta HQ, with 100 other developers over 3 days, in groups of 4-5 creating new XR experiences. Our team made WRECKOMMENDATION ENGINE, a virtual vinyl record player in your real world space that allows you to smash/keep records depending on your taste.

Been testing out airlink on wifi 6 and I'm impressed but the wifi 6e update still hasn't happened so I'm waiting on that as well. Only problem I'm seemingly running into atm is on beatsaber through airlink I'll sometimes cut a block but the controller will randomly decide not to vibrate. I didn't realize how much I rely on that vibration until it just doesn't vibrate in the middle of a map. 😅
