A special tree this #ThickTrunkTuesday. This recumbent giant is a very old Valley #WhiteOak, #QuercusLobata, on a hillside in Northern Marin County, CA. One of its major limbs is lying on the ground, but surviving just fine.

#ThrowbackThursday is dedicated to a tree. This #QuercusLobata presided over my former neighborhood. It was a mature tree in 1888 when the first of the Victorian houses in its shade was built. My house was 3 lots away, and built in 1892. For almost 30 years I watched the sunrise through this tree. Now all those neighbors are gone (including me). #CaliforniaWhiteOak for
