  2. "Very close to my heart." I Met An Angel Named Jacques writer, director and actor Gideon D. Wilonja says the play has been "healing" in a "very beautiful way". On stage 1-4 October, Footscray Arts, Melbourne. #queer #diaspora #lgbtiqa @3CRMelbourne #queertheatre

  3. I thought my days of making theatre for free were long behind me. But one never wants to turn down an opportunity, and I’d been wanting to develop an original solo play for a long time.

  5. Spent last night watching "Pansexual Pregnant Piracy"; a very loose, very comedic musical retelling Anne Bonny and Mary Read with heavy doses of #trans euphoria, #polyamory, and fuck-yous to the patriarchy.

    It's on until tomorrow eve: sohotheatre.com/events/pansexu

  6. For anyone looking for some magical gay cabaret: "Get ready to immerse yourself in a riot of colours, laughter, and artistry as the award-winning Pink Lotus brings her cabaret event, HOT QUEER MAGIC, to the King’s Head! After selling out in South London and the Edinburgh Fringe, this show promises an unforgettable celebration of queerness, self-expression, empowerment, and joy."

  7. A fun performance on at Pleasence in early Feb:

    "A sticky, spooky horror comedy about gender reveal parties, demons from hell, and above all, a Gay Witch Sex Cult. As Kaelan Trough and his husband celebrate the gender reveal of their as yet unborn child, they invite their nearest and dearest for an unforgettable party. However, the party takes a sinister turn as demons are summoned, Prosecco is drunk, and prophecies are fulfilled."

  8. An interesting performance at Lion and The Unicorn for the next few nights;

    "Places I Never Think About is a myth-ified exploration of the real-life experiences of Eastern European immigrants in the UK, examining identity, queerness and migrant joy through multidisciplinary storytelling including live-music, song, movement and poetry. The characters reimagine their own origins as paralleling the mythical tales they grew up with.

    Reclaiming traditional folklore, to explore the intersections of their cultural, sexual and gender identities. As each character summons their past, we learn of the ideological rift between the immigrants and the families they left behind as they seek to navigate the world between their old and new lives."

    There's also a really cool Anne Bonny thing on next month I'm definitely going to catch.

  9. Camden People's #Theatre has something interesting on next Thu-Sat;

    "Come on a multi-coloured journey with us through time and around the world meeting the amazing #LGBTQ+ people that shaped the world we live in today. Using movement, spoken word and real conversations from LGBTQ+ people, Tell Me Y/Our Story will teach you about the past members of the queer community and their joy, perseverance and action. "

  10. There's an interesting-looking play on at The Cockpit tomorrow night. I'll admit I don't totally know what's happening here but it could be quite good;

    "Things are going to change... Just not in the way UKIP candidate Gary Ward expects.
    He wants your vote to make his little piece of London great again. However, after a protest gets out of hand outside a library hosting a drag queen story time, Gary wakes up in hospital.

    With no memory of who he was, how does he tell the world who he really wants to be... And how will the world around him react? What would Nigel do?"

  11. More interesting queer productions on right now for those who can make it:

    "Three queer people cross paths. Their connections blossom like the plants they nurture. Their history as deep as the roots beneath their feet. Created by three LGBTQIA+ actor-writers, PlantGays is a light-hearted poke at the quirks of our queer generation, exploring the beautiful, strange and meaningful ways young queer people connect with nature and each other."

    Deets at Omnibus Clapham: omnibus-clapham.org/plantgays/

    "Two couples each invite a stranger into their homes with hope of sparking new life. Instead, they find themselves threatened by invasion, alienation, and abduction…"

  12. As a big fan of Isherwood, I had book tickets for this tonight;

    "Fury and Elysium pays homage to six highly influential Weimar Republic icons who put their idiosyncratic stamp on Berlin during a period of radical change, rebellious spirit and boldness between the two world wars. With a particular focus on placing centre stage the fascinating lives of three Jewish women. Fury and Elysium depicts Berlin’s #queer culture, celebrating the #drag kings and romance to be found below ground in the infamous cabaret clubs."

  13. I'm off tonight to see "Shutters: A Lesbian Rock Opera".

    "A London girl meets a Los Angeles girl over 20 years – sex, drums and a rock opera. Saving Liz is a young idealistic Punk Rocker who, with friends and lovers, sets out to change the world through music. But Saving Liz can’t seem to give the record producers what they want, and she becomes a shelved has-been."

    It's on at the Omnibus Clapham until the 24th. More info and tickets here: omnibus-clapham.org/shutters/

  14. Okay so I saw this on Saturday and it was awesome. A wonderful exploration of sexual shame around coming out as #queer, intimacy and self-discovery. Beca Barton was amazing in her role(s) and I want to keep an eye out for more productions from Alice McKee.

    Check out more productions at the King's Head here including a lot of queer writing coming up: kingsheadtheatre.com/whats-on

  15. They made Brokeback into a #musical? Sorry, a "play with music". Did someone think "hey, too many dudes turn up thinking it's not gay, we've got to signal it more. Got to make it gayer in some subtle way."

    I jest, but I'd go...

  16. Soho Theatre has a play coming up this April that looks interesting!

    "When a woman tells a lie to her girlfriend, a seed is planted that starts to grow in the darkness. Now roots are cracking up through the pavement and branches are coming in at the windows, and – as she starts to see things that no one else can – she becomes the focus of some seriously unwanted attention."

  17. And if you're looking for something less explicit, how about this for the #asexual peeps in the audience?:

    "Ace has arrived 15 minutes before the club opens because a) she’s never been clubbing and b) on time is late. She must survive the entire night in this hostile new environment so she can meet Sasha – the person who invited her and also her school crush. But is her crush romantic or platonic? And why does everyone keep talking about sex? Ace has never had this dilemma before so it’s all very confusing."

  18. So this is looking super interesting:

    "Subversive, humorous and authentic, ‘Rapture’ follows hard-living bar manager Tommy and polyamorous partner-and-girlfriend Kit and Rosy through their intersecting lives in contemporary East London. As events in the present bring past traumas bubbling to the surface, the bonds within this chosen family must shudder and transform if they are to survive."

  19. “It’s 2014, Gay marriage has just been legalised in the UK, and Rowan and their #LGBTQ+ bandmates want to sing it from the rooftops. But their all-girl Catholic secondary school has other ideas. Disbanded and reprimanded, the group has a choice: do they bow down, retreat, and let the school rules divide them? Or, through all the angsty mess of adolescence, do they unite and fight back to make a change?”

  20. “Enter into a #queer, immersive #circus – Clusterfluff reaches out to those of us who feel lost. Who’s #gender identity, #sexuality, #disability, appearance or body size doesn’t have mainstream appeal. To empower and to celebrate, where everyone is welcome.”

  21. #Myths and legends create us. But in those stories everyone is cis and straight. Which can’t be right can it? Featuring stories from multiple cultures and heritages: our myths; reshaped, reformed, retold and queered. Remythed.”

    Remythed is on at the Vault Festival this March. Details: vaultfestival.com/events/remyt
