Day 10: Did you rewatch dramas in 2025?
But, of course! I rewatched #Nevertheless, and later, watched the #jdrama version.
    With @AnnaAnthro and @whoosh, I rewatched the spectacular #MisterSunshine
    With @jcurries, I rewatched #Healer
Wendy and I tried to rewatch #QueenOfTears, but the villains were just way too much to watch again.
Rewatching is quite delightful, but there are quite a lot of new and never-watched shows to occupy time.

The one thing that I particularly liked about #TastefullyYours was how well they portrayed the Jeonju Hanok Village. And they exist in multiple locations around the country, especially in Seoul and Busan. New businesses in the area must use the traditional style of construction. The food in Jeonju, home of bi bim bap, is excellent.
The Hanok Village is extremely touristy and I smiled to see the 4-leaf clovers like they featured in #QueenOfTears

The leads, the locations, and the OST were all fabulous on first watch. However, @whoosh and I tried rewatching, and those hideous villains just overwhelmed the story. It was great to watch while currently airing.

  5. The writers have done a great job of weaving several complex storylines into a coherent whole. The cast is fabulous including many truly hateful villains, along with many good-hearted characters who are there to save the day at key moments. They really pack in a lot of story in 16 episodes, but the direction and acting are top-notch. The story never loses its impact or coherence as it unfolds, and you'll be on the edge of your seat for every episode. Five stars.

  6. Queen of Tears is a mega-popular drama from 2024 which, at times, threatens to overwhelm the viewer with a nutrient-dense stew of high-stakes romance, moral dilemmas, intrigue and seemingly every trope in the book. Nevertheless, the creators have pulled off a tour de force, with every character and nuance somehow working together to create a powerful and memorable blockbuster of a drama.

    Day 11: All The Tropes

A bit apprehensive about todays choice because of …, but anyway

Queen of Tears - This has almost everything; chaebols, white trucks, memory loss, side arcs, umbrellas etc. I think the only thing missing is time travel.

… guess the tropes even spilled over into the real world. 💀

Kim Ji Won is great as always.

    15-Feb : Most beautiful location?

    For this year's dramas:

"Queen of Tears" has some of the most beautiful sets - the home, the department store, the small town, the aquarium, but the location shots in Germany were gorgeous - not only the buildings & monuments, but the field of flowers.

As for gorgeous locations within S. Korea, I think "Love Next Door" did a great job - the temple, the neighborhoods, the onggi pots all provided beautiful backdrops.

  9. #kdrama thoughts of the day:
I rewatched #Nevertheless and appreciated it even more the second time around. Following a group of art students as they sculpt their way towards graduation and some sexy (by k-drama standards) love stories and great scenery and soundtrack. There is a Japanese version on Netflix that focuses more on the perspective if the ML that I'd like to watch.
Tried to rewatch #QueenOfTears which I greatly enjoyed first time but I HATED all of the villains and their stories.

    #Day25 Favourite Romance of 2024
I think that for me, #QueenOfTears was a romance that I fully invested in, with an estranged married couple rekindling their romance and fighting all of the obstacles. It was a terribly ciichéd show but the side characters and locations added a lot to it, as did #KimJiWon as Hong Hae-In and #KimSooHyun as Baek Hyun Woo. The Crash Landing On You writing team know many of the magic ingredients we love.

Dag 11: A 2024 drama that kept you riveted.
The drama that kept my riveted IN 2024 was #EmpressKi with #HaJiWon and #JiChangWook. I never would have guessed that a 51-episode historical drama could capture my attention throughout but it did.
The new dramas that kept me going were #MrPlankton, as previously mentioned, and I loved the journey in #QueenOfTears with a wide range of characters and locations as well as amazing acting by #KimJiWon and #KimSooHyun

  13. @whoosh funny how we have different reactions to a specific #kdrama 😄
You're not someone who easily drops a drama and it's hilarious how I am excited about #DNALover while you can't be convinced by it!

As counter examples I dropped #MySweetMobster and #QueenOfTears, two dramas highly appreciated in this community!

  14. After #KDrama #QueenOfTears ended up being a 7.75/10 for me (muffed landing), time to start 2024's OTHER hype monster, #LovelyRunner Watching two mega-hyped #KDramas withing months of their release is a first for me. Finding the first one to be more hit than miss was also a pleasant surprise, it will be interesting to see if #LovelyRunner and I are in sync.

  15. Finished ep 3 of #KDrama #MySweetMobster and put it on hold. VERY formulaic, which is not automatically a bad thing if the actors sell it well, as the two leads are here.

It has promise, BUT Dramas of this formula often crash and burn in the final few, so I'm going to wait for it to finish before picking it up again from episode 4. In the same way that #QueenOfTears finally ended my Kim Soo Hyun allergy, I'd love it if this Drama did the same for poor Kwon Yul.

  16. 7.75/10 for #KDrama #QueenOfTears
    STUPIDLY OVERLONG
Soo-chul a waste of space: Da-Hye had a more meaningful arc & his dead brother had more impact on the story by the way his mother reacted to his death
The last 2 eps were a makjang meltdown. Clichéd & lazy. Makjang is fine in a makjang Drama, not here.Better as 14 60 minute episodes, with a different end.
BUT, some outstanding TRUE romcom - lol & sweet. The OTP worked, both of them. And they dampened my eyes even when I knew how it ended👌

  17. Episode 15 of #KDrama #QueenOfTears is disappointingly predictable and utterly pointless. Eps 9-14 had me thinking of giving it a 9/10 , now it's around 8. It's a shame that after delivering some top quality variations on its formula, it went "chose the road more travelled" with the 'twit' that was both predictable and telegraphed. Yet another slur on the standard of forensic investigation by Korean police.

  18. I love it when a #KDrama reminds me of #HindiCinema - when Hae In told Hyun Woo in #QueenOfTears "Even if I was reborn a hundred times, I'd still marry you", my mind went STRAIGHT to this song

    सौ बार जनम लेंगे सौ बार फ़ना होंगे ऐ जाने वफा फिर भी हम तुम ना जुदा होंगे

    Roughly
"We'll be born 100 times, we'll be destroyed 100 times, we will never be separated"

    youtube.com/watch?v=vnXxYufgkt

  19. Hearing the villain order his goons to get rid of KSH's character in #KDrama #QueenOfTears makes me very scared: Poor Hyun-Woo has the terrible misfortune to live in the only country where Mercedes-Benz sports cars, like every car, HAVE NO AIRBAGS! 😱😱😱

  20. 1/4 of the way through ep 11 of #KDrama #QueenOfTears and I still consider Hae-in's dongsaeng a total waste of space. To this point he has added nothing to the story and only bloat to the runtime. Lee Joo Bin's character has been more meaningful and impactful

  21. Wow! #KDrama #QueenOfTears could just about score a 10 for Natasha alone - PRICELESS. 😂

  22. Into ep 10 of #KDrama #QueenOfTears and that's how many years it's taking me back, to when I was still a #KDrama infant, just a year down the rabbit hole. Watching this FUN - the good bits (like KJW's great performance), and the bad bits (too few characters here to fit). I haven't been this ENGAGED with a #KDrama in years. Ranting and laughing AT a Drama was a huge part of the entertainment value back in the day, and QoT is VERY entertaining for that nostalgic reason. 😀 👌

  23. The end of episode 8 of #KDrama #QueenOfTears nicely illustrates why I'll never be hired as a #KDrama writer, even if I were magically gifted L1 Korean: I was happy to see Hae-In get out of the van, GUTTED to see the rest.

Had I written it, episodes 9-15.75 would have been footage of stray dogs urinating on them while homeless kids laughed. Their happy ending would have been a shower and clean clothes in the last 20 minutes, because I'm a softie at heart.

  24. I've grumbled A LOT about the forced "comedy" in #KDrama #QueenOfTears but THIS scene was pure comedy GOLD: If it wasn't 1AM and I wasn't tired after a long night shift, I'd have literally laughed out loud at this pointless waste OF space finally getting what was coming to him. I'm wondering if his noona's brain tumour was cosmic balance for his having no brain cells at all. I suspect the viewer is *supposed* to feel sympathy for him, but that well is dry here. SCHADENFREUDE FTW🤣 😈

  25. The whole "Vincenzo" cameo is a great example of the stupidly pointless bloat afflicting #KDrama #QueenOfTears Star cameos I get, but the 'comedy' in the lengthy scene was forced and unsubtle and again did nothing to advance the story. I like SJK and am looking forward to seeing him with Chun Woo Hee soonish, but much of ep 8 was a VERY effective reminder of why I never watch Dramas as they air. My Drama autobio will be entitled "How I stopped worrying and learned to love the FF button"
