This year, #Microsoft will be sunsetting #Publisher in favor of #WinWord . I don't mind letting them believe their own lies about how #MSWord is a #DTP tool for professionals. But I need options that will work on #Debian #Linux . Options other than #LibreOffice because that's too expansive. I just need a proper DTP tool with the ease of #QuarkXPress . Suggestions, please!

Wow, #Microsoft is killing #Publisher... Again. At least where I used to live, you couldn't get it for years, between 1993 and 2007. The transition to #QuarkXPress was brutally painful. 😖 One of the most uncomfortable apps for me I've ever used.

I know it can do wonders, but it's hard for me to like something that's being forced on me.

I was glad to see Publisher back as part of #Office, although I never used it again.

Seems it's time to say goodbye to another piece of my youth. 👋

I used #Scribus for the first time in a long time yesterday, for about an hour. It was several versions behind the current release and on a 15 year old MacBook Air but my god it was still more intuitive and easier to work with than #QuarkXPress ever was/is.

I worked in print for a few years when young and straddled the switch from paste-up and PMTs to #QuarkXPress #Photoshop etc.

As such, I am great with Quark and I genuinely cannot deal with Word or Libreoffice Write, the workflow is all completely bonkers to my "Put this here on the page" brain.

Needless to say, Quark not on Linux. What should I use instead?

After a few tries I was able to fully print from Quark XPress to the ImageWriter II over #AppleTalk with the #AirTalk from the #PocketChip! It wasn’t quick but it worked!
