  6. I've done some fairly high-level meetings over the last years, but today, I think I can say that they've all been surpassed.
    I was invited to a "high-level informal presidential discussion" for the Human Rights Council at the UN to talk about emerging technologies like quantum and AI.

    Our definitions of informal are somewhat different, but at least I decided to where shoes.

    In collaboration with brilliant minds and cutting-edge technology, we will construct a trapping device capable of simultaneous #electron and laser-cooled ion storage. This device is not just a piece of equipment; it's a key to unlocking the potential of the ion-electron #quantum system for detecting #radiofrequency radiation.

    Goals and Objectives:
    Our journey includes constructing a sensitive ion vibration detection system, predicting coupling strength, exploring temperature dependence, and observing the dynamic behaviour of the quantum system. We're not stopping there—our team will also test the system's reaction to artificial radio-frequency signals and dive into theoretical investigations on detecting signal phase and direction.

    I lead a group in #quantum technologies at a US national lab. My background is in quantum #optics, but these days I spend my time primarily thinking about things like #QuantumComputing, #QuantumNetworks, #QuantumCommunications, #QuantumSensing, and #QuantumCryptography.
