Alright, future engineers!
**Quadratic Eq:** A polynomial equation where the highest power of the variable is 2.
Ex: `ax^2 + bx + c = 0`.
Pro-Tip: The Discriminant `(b^2-4ac)` reveals the number & type of roots (real/complex)!

**Discriminant:** `b^2 - 4ac` from `ax^2+bx+c=0`. It tells the nature of the equation's roots!
Ex: `x^2+2x+1=0` has D = `2^2 - 4(1)(1) = 0`.
Pro-Tip: `D>0` (2 real roots), `D=0` (1 real root), `D<0` (2 complex roots)!

**Discriminant (Quadratic):** The value `b^2 - 4ac` from the quadratic formula. It tells you the *nature* of the equation's roots.
Ex: If `b^2 - 4ac > 0`, there are two distinct real roots.
Pro-Tip: Use it to quickly know if solutions are real or complex BEFORE solving!

**Quadratic Formula:** Finds roots (x-intercepts) of `ax^2 + bx + c = 0`.
Ex: `x = (-b ± sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a`
Pro-Tip: `b^2 - 4ac` (the discriminant) reveals if you'll get 0, 1, or 2 real solutions!

Alright, future engineers!
**Quadratic Formula:** Solves any `ax^2 + bx + c = 0` for `x`.
Ex: `x = [-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)] / 2a`
Pro-Tip: Accurately identify `a, b, c` (with signs!) before plugging them in. Avoids common errors!

The **Discriminant (b^2-4ac)** reveals a quadratic's root types. Ex: If >0, 2 real roots. Pro-Tip: Check it first to predict root characteristics quickly!

I just met with my co-teacher next year for Algebra 2. I’ve been talked with totally rethinking quadratics.
I want to to be playful and fun, with lots of puzzles, problem solving, etc. I have some ideas but if you have any quadratics resources, entire units, activities, etc. that you enjoy, I’d love to see them to inspire me before I stick in to developing some stuff.
I haven’t written curriculum in quite a while (at least since the pandemic) and it’s been one of my favorite things to do — so I’m nervous but excited about it.
