Thanks to @BlueSCSI and @KayKoba my new #Mac #Quadra 700 is booting up! I transferred my A/UX image from the emulator, and it appears to be booting up ok, but I'm sure there are bound to be some hiccups. #retrocomputing #A/UX

Great story and history here as the First Nation in Yuquot, the home and nation of Maquinna who first met Spanish colonizers in the 1700s on the West Coast of Canada restore a church building. It includes stained glass windows donated by the Government of Spain in the 1950s when this structure was built.

"It's a striking combination of elements, in a building that still wears the mark of a Euro-centric worldview. At the church’s entrance are two stained glass windows that were donated by Spain in the 1950s, depicting Europeans in the centre as the local First Nations are in the darkened periphery.

“These windows are now jarring remnants from a colonial past,” explained the First Nation on its website. “One window shows representatives of Britain and Spain, Quadra and Vancouver, conferring about ‘sovereignty’ over Nootka Sound in 1791.””

I visited this spot about 10 years ago. It's a wonderful journey from Gold River on the mail ship (Yuquot III I believe) to the island settlement. There is the Mowachaht/Muchahlaht First Nation village site, a lighthouse, and this church among other buildings and things. There is also a fantastic beach on the windward side. We were able to go inside the church. It was still fairly derelict when we were there, the restoration had not begun and the West Coast weather is very harsh.

Oh, and I must add. No treaty was signed with the Mowachaht/Muchahlaht Nation in Yuquot. These were two “great" colonizer nations stealing land from dozens of First Nations that had lived there for millenia, and still do.

A vague memory that I should have one more #macintosh #quadra somewhere. After a bit of searching, a #quadra800 was located.

More things I regret throwing away.

Another series of pictures of old computer stuff. Collected 2 old #Quadra950 from my father around 18 years ago but didn't have space for them later in life.

I combined the Quadras into one maxed out with RAM and explored #AUX . Had a great deal of problem getting an A/UX image back then.

I used A/UX a little bit in the early 90s. Actually, it was the first #Unix I ever used. It was really neat. I always thought #MacOSX should have added something like "Commando" when launching a #CLI app from #Finder.

I bought a #Quadra 800 a few years ago with the idea of installing A/UX. I... should get around to that one of these days.

The new #macintosh #quadra 650 is in a bit of a state

Can any 90s #macintosh peeps point me in the right direction to figure out what this video card is? It’s made by Radius, and it says PRECISIONCOLOR 8 but I can’t actually find anything on a plain old 8, and it doesn’t appear to match the photos I can find of the 8-24X or the 8-XJ. Anyone have any idea what this is?

It’s a NuBus card pulled from a #quadra 650.
