I've noticed that you can use #QtWebEngine act as a simple web browser with a very thin wrapper written in #Python using #PySide.
It might help me to be more conscious about my internet usage, which is something I want to achieve since a long time.
So, I've committed such crime: https://codeberg.org/Aelspire/pyquefa-browser
I'm sorry!

Seems 4GB is not enough for building #QtWebEngine even with single processing (-j1)
Where did we go so wrong, everything is so fucking bloated?

Custom built #gcc it is then. Lets see if #QtWebEngine builds now.

Great, memory eating bug in #gcc aarch64 and of course #debian has the buggy version. And there is no backport. Stable my ass.

Which exactly is #KDE's browser? I know both is, but... which is the "de facto" web browser if you were to recommend one to the general user? #Falkon or #Konqueror?
I still find no reason to move away from #Firefox, but just in case, I should prolly start looking for an alt considering #Mozilla's becoming more and more... hopeless/irrelevant.
#Chromium based browsers ain't a (valid) choice for me, fuck #Google.

Update: nvm, Falkon's not an option as it's a #QtWebEngine browser, which is Chromium based. -
After over 2 months of hard work, all #KDE applications and #KDEPlasma have been updated to the latest versions! 🎉 #Qt5.15 and #Qt6.7, including #QtWebEngine, also received updates. A big step forward for the #OpenBSD ports ecosystem! 🐡

@flypig Sounds very interesting! Checkout my Gecko-dev source tree on how manage Gecko releases and patches on them in Git. It made life much easier for me.
I'm also interested on having some demos that one could use to show Mozembedded on Desktop #Linux as an alternative of embedding Chromium with #QtWebEngine.
Ping me if you need any help.

PSA @fedora folks, to use #Discourse (#AskFedora and #FedoraDiscussion) on your #QTWebEngine based browsers like #Qutebrowser and #Falkon, pass `enable-experimental-web-platform-features` in the `qt.args` (for Qutebrowser, not sure what it is for Falkon):

I think it would be much more interesting if #VSCode ran on top of #Webkit-GTK or #QTWebEngine instead of #Electron.
Maybe even integration of features that had to be native would be easier.
(Oh, yes, VSCode has binary code other than Electron btw.)

::: FALKON :kde:
Looking for a new alternative for a web browser?
Falkon is a Qt-based lightweight one - kicking ahead in development.
Falkon has grown to be feature-rich - how much so in your opinion - why not give it a spin?
Please report all the bugs possibly encountered to forward this browser by KDE 🙏

Oh, yes. Now I can't use my #Falkon webbrowser to post. Because #Misskey don't works with #QtWebEngine.

@Blort #visurf is based on #netsurf, which has its own layout engine. #Qutebrowser is based on #QtWebEngine (from Chromium); I'm not sure how separate the QtWebEngine and Chromium are at this point (the "spawn" question is maybe interesting to consider more).
Neither meets the requirements you listed yet, but both have a plausible claim to doing so in the future. Maybe worth using them and contributing to them, I'd say. (I'm not affiliated with either project in any way).

Why does this simple QML browser not render the internal HTML page?

#RStudio is the most popular IDE for R, however it is inaccessible to sight-impaired users given that screen readers catch a lot of rubbish. In my limited testing, the audio is useless.
According to the RStudio website and a response from [email protected], this is due to limitations of the underlying #QtWebEngine, and will therefore not improve until they move to #Electron.

Searching for a new reliable web browser? Check it out: Falkon.
A KDE web browser using QtWebEngine rendering engine, previously known as QupZilla.
It aims to be a lightweight web browser available through all major platforms.
This project has been originally started only for educational purposes but Falkon has grown into a feature-rich browser.
