Tencent is testing the next era of "agentic AI" on its QQ platform, turning AI into an active community manager and discovery tool.

It doesn't just chat: it finds fragmented content, organizes your links, and automates group moderation.

  3. The internet is quietly becoming a walled garden.

I recently created a QQ account and made this single post in the Off-topic -> General board. To my surprise, I got banned a couple hours later for "Spam." My post wasn’t commercial or anything; it was just a genuine discussion.

You have been banned for the following reason: Spam. Please contact the administrator if this was done in error.

I’ve always thought spamming involved sending unsolicited messages to multiple users, not a single thread. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is this a common issue on QQ, or did I just have bad luck?

On top of that, after posting this on r/Fanfiction, it was removed by the moderators because r/Fanfiction is not the place to discuss real-life drama. Now I'm starting to think it’s less about that particular site and more about the internet as a whole. The internet is quietly becoming a walled garden. It’s not just about one platform anymore—it’s the pattern. You get banned for a single, harmless post. A subreddit removes your thread because it’s “real-life drama.” Cumulatively, it creates an environment where you hesitate before posting anything that isn’t perfectly sanitized.

  12. EDIT: See next post ⬇️

Apparently a major #DataBreach with 26 billion accounts has surfaced.

On the list were social network accounts from chinese #QQ (1.5E9!), #Weibo, #LinkedIn, …

But also a few hundred million accounts each from social networks you may not want to be assocuated with publicly, such as #AdultFriendFinder (for sexual encounters), or the platform formerly known as #Twitter.

You will not be able to get off that list, but at least enable #2FA.

That judge was clearly not digging deep enough. It is not even that difficult now to find evidence.
For instance, investigative journalists of the #German #SZ even made a multipart pod on their findings called #thegreatfirewall

How I found out originally? - Buy a cheap new phone, install #QQ and #WeChat and look at the permissions it asks for.
    Afterward: hard reset.

Also, the case to abolish all privately owned big social-media platforms is very strong:

  14. @mxv

#Tencent 腾讯 is the creator of #WeChat, the omnipresent mobile surveillance tool of the #CCP.

I once briefly had their instant messaging product #QQ and #WeChat installed.

They are like a digital #Kraken. I had to reset the whole smartphone.

I would delete my account immediately. No good can come out of it.

Further excellent #pod (in German) on the #Chinese surveillance state, including #TikTok:

    The Great Firewall..

  17. quote :

  18. It's time, I'm calling it: Don't link "githubmemory dot com" anywhere. Avoid this page. It's ran by QQ, one of the major Chinese tech companies, and it seems they creep into all kinds of search results and replace the links to the original projects on GitHub.

From my past experiences with QQ and their API I have not much faith in any privacy protections by them.
