@freeschool Hi, thanks for the ping! I don't intend to leave #qoto, but I've certainly been less active. Partly because I've been on BlueSky instead, but even there I'm not very active, I've just reduced this style of social media use in general.
It might help if the qoto client were a bit more stable :) I still get 500-storms and random failures (like my profile not showing any of my posts).
And, thinking about it, most of what I (re)post on BlueSky is about how awful US politics currently is, and I feel like the Fediverse in general tries to be about other things (can't blame it!).

I'm messaging you because of mixed reasons - not all bad but it seems that many of the people included here want(ed) more as many of us have been posting about or around things - some solved but many around the Fediverse also itself.
I've personally seen how it's going too... also having talked to @freemo (many month before now and un-responded) and asking for more (even without his help directly but under his and our own watchful eyes to do *something*)... Again not all his fault and also about my wants and other people's with just social / Federation rules by others / not being blocked etc...
So I'm seeing a few more people talk about EXPORTING out and I also was thinking and why I included you all... Freemo has often done great and a stellar job in communicating with people on his instance but it was a bit patchy and did need branching out / enabling other somehow (a bit like fans running the band's website or at least helping themselves through the root / music band's website / QOTO).
Anyway I have a lot of energy still but after seeing a few comments about other people BLOCKING or similar (and my friend also creating a Mastodon.Social account and not able to see my posts) means we have to solve this somehow... maybe having two accounts? I don't know (I'm also seeking your help here).
Checking #QOTO hashtag makes some of this clear about people's intentions or direction so I hope we can crowdsource and help ourselves if Freemo is often out of communication or at least this level... or just life... We have to find a way...
Not sure about leaving totally as it's "their fault" and not all QOTO (though a lot of what I want and what any social needs is direct investment and building people in itself, not just the storage resources and Techies)...
But anyway... a few words for you all. No harm intended.

@ex @silverpill #qoto is a clusterfuck and its random issues are impossible to understand from the user perspective, that's my main reason moving to self-hosting mitra.

Потом ещё вебня ебала мозги фирменным #qoto 'вским "Rate limited Please retry after 04:55".
За десятилетия прыщинга у меня вроде ни разу не случалось такого чтобы апдейт прям ломал систему. Худшее что было - забагованная mesa, из-за которой иксы (точнее, драйвер modesetting) не работали, откатил. Ну и в ядре баги по мелочам встречались, сейчас уже и не припомню их. Но я сижу на нестабильной ветке Gentoo, если бы на стабильной сидел, проблем было бы меньше.
Конкретно та беда с китайцем и xz это не причина не обновляться, это причина сидеть на более проверяемой-выдержанной версии дистрибутива, с оперативными security апдейтами которые ты оперативно накатываешь чтобы не сидеть голой дырявой жопой в интернет.

2/ Saying changes out loud...1/ The pinned posts seems to have decreased from 5 to 2 posts pinned?
It was 5 I'm quite sure before.I'm not sure what happened but could we have 5 Pinned Posts again?
2/ It would be good to have even minor changes said aloud to #QOTO hashtag to check this and understand.

Вот педеративный e-mail хотя бы баунсы шлёт когда не может доставить письмо!

Would be good to see a rejection message like:

2 ⚠️ THE PERSON WILL NOT SEE YOUR MESSAGEA bit like email rejection...
I think most replies go through but the point for me is we don't know when it doesn't. No symbol or signal about server - we see it on our side as ok..

I have 2 pinned posts and I believe we can have 5 - When I add try add a post as pinned it says I've reached the maximum amount even though I unpinned some...

sometimes I get a 'edited a post' notification from things I've reposted, and it's always the same post, but there are no modifications...
This is frustrating, and drives me to un-repost it.

To other #qoto users: My replies to posts of users from other instances don't go through to their posts on their instances. Can you give this post a star or answer a poll if you have the same problem on qoto?

#qoto is broken even worse than I thought. Replies don't go through to other instances. Why not open another - new qoto instance of old qoto? It will be cool to have 2 qoto instances anyway - one big and one small for those wishing for more quiet small place.

@freemo Hi, is the follow feature working in #QOTO? I am trying to follow accounts such as @wikipedia; however, all I obtain is a 'cancel follow request'. It has been like this for a number of months. Furthermore, there are other accounts that I have successfully followed which are still showing 'cancel follow request' whilst being followed.

Lately the interface is Missing things / Not loading element... Any recent changes maybe?

@ufm Вот да. Потому что банально возможности протокола до конца еще нигде не реализовали, а вместо этого городят локальные расширения. По длине вроде проблем нет, а вот инлайн-картинки, более 4 картинок, цитирование и т.д. и т.п. — уже разброд и шатание.
Даже в рамках слоновника есть как минимум ванилька, #GlitchSoc, а в придачу к ним — существующие фактически в единственном экземпляре #qoto, #mementomori и прастигоспади #ruffy...

Скажем так, у англоговорящих есть очень меткое понятие (как утверждается, придуманное американскими солдатами во время WWII): FUBAR. Fucked Up Beyond All Repair.Вот в таком состоянии ныне находится #qoto. Буквально года полтора (два?) назад это был максимально богатый на фичи сервер, но достигалось это массой патчей, делавших его несовместимым с ванилькой (т.е. забыли про апдейты и застряли на версии 3.5).
Со временем там стало не хватать общераспространенных функций вроде редактирования постов и поддержки API для сторонних утилит, но это не главное. После смены хостинга там всё сломалось окончательно, более полугода оттуда просто не видно было никого из вновь зарегистрировавшихся (на других серверах) пользователей, там отвалился #Markdown, не работает экспорт архива, наверно, много еще чего-то, о чём я просто не знаю.
А так-то, конечно, до сих пор есть масса функций, которые было бы здорово позаимствовать (особенно то, что касается механизма подписок), но надежды нет, мир праху ее 😞

Is there is a way to follow hashtags without having to go to the preference page and manually inputting them?

#QOTO: I have followed a number of accounts recently. Some of them are through flipboard and others are private accounts. The toots from the flipboard account such as Flipboard UK (see image) are showing in my home timeline but still have the 'egg timer' sign and I am being asked if I want to cancel follow request. The other set of accounts (private) just have the cancel request with the "egg timer" and none of their toots appear in my home timeline. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to resolve this situation?
