Apparently Jack Tame's Q+A interview with Opportunity leader Qiulae Wong is getting a lot of mileage on social media ('TOP leader DESTROYED by Jack Tame' sort of stuff). Since I've posted some fairly sympathetic comments on them here - including fact-checking claims based on a clip from it - I thought it's only fair that I check out the full interview;

@mokopapa And why I admire #qiulaewong. She called #WinstonPeters out as a racist but acknowledged that even #nzfirst have the odd good idea. A better future is made by finding ways of working together.

"One of the things I was actually quite surprised to learn is that we already fund 9/10ths of the cost of public transport. And if we can fund that last 10%, we would get so much more ridership and so much more benefit for our communities out of [what we already spend]. That makes the $150 million actually seem like not that big of an investment, to get a huge amount of gain."

"A Citizen's Income; there's a lot of benefits ... [to] providing a safety net for people when they are find themselves out of a job, for longer than they would like, having to care for a ... loved one who's become sick or needs extra support. There's lots of these things that hit us in life, and at the moment, our safety net isn't really designed to catch everyone that ends up there."

This all sounds very sensible so far.

"I have spent 15 years working in the business sector, in sustainability primarily, so I... have seen the opportunity for business as a force for good. If we can harness the best of innovation, and great ideas, and competition, to solve some of the world's biggest social and environmental problems, that's a really exciting place to be."
