  1. These 19th cent Turkish wooden bath clogs were worn by women to avoid slipping on the floor of the hammam, or bath house, used by Muslims to bathe before Friday prayers. Their Arabic name, #qabqab, derives from the clacking #noise they made on the marble floors.
