After the overwhelming performance of the St. John Passion last week, I am curious to hear how I will evaluate this performance. Whether it 'beats' my all-time favorite (La Petite Bande / Sigiswald Kuijken).

Just saw PYGMALION (1938) on 35mm at the Paris Theater in NYC.

Wendy Hiller and Leslie Howard had roughly the same age difference as Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison, but their chemistry is infinitely more genuine.

George Bernard Shaw’s Oscar-winning adaptation of his play feels like a screwball comedy. Delightful.

Listening on Easter -of course- to the Matthäus Passion. Another attempt at the version by #Pygmalion / Raphaël #Pichon, given the raving reviews last year. The articulation is superb. Every word can be heard. And the tempi are very well chosen. Not too slow and certainly not too fast. Not sure though if it will defeat my favorite version by La Petite Bande.
