I have never been more disgusted and disappointed by a post in my life. The disregard for actual research, and display of racism (hypocritically as well) by someone with a degree in Japanology is absolutely appaling.

The fact that NSFW art is described as having "harmful content", "promoting" unhealthy relationships. Sugarcoating the harrassment and bullying that came from antis and their false, disproven ideology as "educational movements".

This kind of thinking is dangerous, and this person has particular fandom presence and influence. I genuinely feel physically ill.

Why yes, it IS racist and creepy for a bunch of Westerners to try and force the Japanese to change their ways. It is ALSO RACIST to believe they will have their own "learning moment". It just seeps with ignorance and a lack of self awareness. "The savages will civilize themselves (to OUR standards) on their own" is just as bad as "we have to civilize the savages".

The fact that there are still places like Japanese fandom that haven't fallen to this awful antishipper ideology is a comfort. They have a right to be upset about people coming in and acting like conservatives trying to dim their expression. I don't blame them for wanting to isolate themselves, especially now and with people like this.

What else can I say. Please do actual research on the effects of art on people. Don't trust anyone like this. Let's try to actually be better.
